out of curiosity

lets see how many people who think they're god's gift to music critique will comment on this journal entry. this is purely expermiental.

i think
Doomsday Machine and Anthems of Rebellion from Arch Enemysuck total ball ass. however, i think Wages of Sin, Black Earth, and Stigmatatotally kick ass. the pattern here? the newer stuff is sucking.

i still think the second CD of Stadium Arcadium, the new Red Hot Chilli Peppers sucks and is too soft and just generally not entertainging. Their single, Dani California is however a pretty good song, as are some of the other songs on the initial CD. maybe it's simply because i was bored of listening to that style of music by the time i got into the second CD. Not a lot of variation. and not a lot of action, either. this is here purely for controversy. apparently that is the forumla for people to read your posts… this linking system and song/artist/album tagging is foreign to me. i understand the linking, but i'm amazed people see my posts… and i refuse to 'tag' music. it is most bothersome, i won't search for music by what other people may describe as 'cool' or 'chill' and i definitely won't contribute to that sort of classification system. now that i've said RHCP and Dani California i'm sure many people will read this. mission accomplished.

the new single from Muse, Supermassive Black Hole sucks a whole bunch. I was extremely disappointed. i initially read the reviews of it here because i had been previously unaware that the journal/linking system linked you to journal entries related to what you were listening to since my account had been inoperative since before that was in place, and to my chagrin everyone was correct in saying this single sounds like britney spears and michael jackson had a child together in secrecy and that child just started making music. Absolution and Origin of Symmetry and Showbiz were sooooo good. what happened?

Three Six Mafia needs to make another album like When The Smoke Clears or something similar. I miss that album. Project Pat has a song out now called Good Googly Moogly that is a disappointment as well. maybe i'm just getting old.

Wycleaf Jean should have just stopped making music after The Score. i would have been a lot happier that way.

Working for the Weekend is an awesome song. I love it. someone has to say something about that.

i hope i get some awesome comments like 'you can't like rap and rock/metal/what everyone else listens to' or something equally as retarded. another thing that bothers me about the whole quantifying users' listening habits is that it's easy to see where the majority of people stand in their musical taste and it's strange. it's foreign to me. it's like i feel compelled to find my RHCP and Radiohead albums and listen hard; i can be cool too. at the same time that may have to do with the sterotypical last.fm user as well. i'm sure a lot of people wipe their ass with last.fm but i think it's a rather novel implementation of technology who's statstics gathering can, could, and probably does serve a purpose to someone or some people. even though it sounds like a really good idea, the linking of the journals isn't that good of an idea (to me) because every opinion with an asshole is going to put their $0.02 in and most of the time it isn't going to be productive at all. perhaps having related users but not related journals would be better, but this is all academic as it probably won't change, anyway.

what i also get a kick out of is that on the reccomendations, the top 5 i'm already quite aware of and don't have any in any of my playlists because i don't particularly enjoy their music on any level.

this journaling system also takes the users way too seriously on the reviewing side of music… who the fuck cares what you think as long as you buy the album? who gives a shit about your music quiz?
