No, only a selection of classic episodes (totaling about a third of all of them) based on what I've seen recommended and what interested me. :) I started with new series 5 because I wanted to get caught up with my various Nu-Who-watching peers ASAP, I was initially planning to then watch 1-4 and then a few classics, but I decided to do it strictly chronologically instead to have a better grounding for series 1-4, which is absolutely what has happened. It's already made Series 7 so far better. I did end up watching waaaaay more classic episodes than I intended though. :D (Intention being to watch around 25-30, instead I'm watching 64 of the 157 made.) More would have been too much; I've already devoted the entire second half of this year to it :)

Haha. He was in a sometimes-conscious perpetual slumber in The Five Doctors; I suppose they woke him up for the war :P Well, as of The Ultimate Foe it seems that Gallifrey is on a severe decline... the Time Lords I cared about are apparently dead, except Romana, who was most likely executed by Rassilon. Still feels like destroying Vulcan and not putting it back (Star Trek, 2009) though :P

OH AND THE FIVE DOCTORS. Lol I left that out because I went through seasons picking outr favorites and it's not part of a season, it's a special XD Definitely watch it, although Tom Baker isn't in it (just a scene from Shada). It's the only appearance of Rassilon in the classic series - and I take it he was the final adversary in The End of Time :3 He's neutral in The Five Doctors, though.

Oh alright then :D Here's what I think you should watch - An Unearthly Child episode 1; The Edge of Destruction - focuses on the relationships between the characters; The Dalek Invasion of Earth - actually gives the Doctor's granddaughter Susan a relatively well (for classic show standards) developed romance, which I wrote about here: http://altairsnail.wordpress.com/2012/08/24/the-dalek-invasion-of-earth/ ...The Mind Robber episode 4 for entertainment value, The Three Doctors, The Deadly Assassin (has that impossible conspiracy thing like the Silents arc), The Face of Evil, The Robots of Death, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, The Invasion of Time (the Doctor takes on another impossible situation, and come to think of it, this one also involves a room of complete privacy), The Pirate Planet, City of Death. And if I have to include a Fifth Doctor story, Arc of Infinity (which I enjoyed, but I'm hesitant to recommend it because of its negative reputation)

Great choices! Although I wasn't so keen on A Town Called Mercy, but you seem to have very similar tastes to mine :) Comparing aspect to aspect, Vincent and the Doctor - I can't think of any other beautiful moment of validating a creative genius, there's the Leonardo Da Vinci situation in City of Death (but we never see him) and George Stephenson (inventor of the railway locomotive) is a major character in Mark of the Rani, which was pretty cool. It also involves bombs that turn people into trees. The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang - there's a similar universe-ending plight in Logopolis. A Christmas Carol is still my favorite ever, unique. And... I can't think of comparisons to the rest of those you listed :D Not only is the Doctor not romantic toward his companions, but there's hardly any romance in the series at all, between anyone, certainly nothing anywhere near as affecting as in the new show.

Sure :) Just skip to the end of anything you're not enjoying. If I'd watched new series 1-4 I could make recommendations based on what your favorites from them were, but I'm not quite there yet :P
