À propos de moi
Can I import all my previous plays from my media player when creating a new Last.fm profile?
Yes, when creating a new Last.fm profile you can import your previous plays from either iTunes, Windows Media Player or Winamp, using the Last.fm scrobbler.
To do this, install the Last.fm scrobbler on your computer, enter the user details of your new account and follow the instructions when it asks you if you want to import your media player’s listening history. When done, your plays should get imported quickly – check your profile!
Please note that you can only import your plays only once from one of the three supported media players, and as this is currently considered a feature for new users, it’s not fully supported for reset profiles.

Hey, I am a student from Dickinson College working on an internet ethnography for an American Studies course. I have used Last.fm in the past but have created separate account for the purpose of this research project for my privacy as well as to obtain data objectively. I am additionally working with PopLuver, another student at the college.
We want to determine whether people use Last.fm to discover new music or to simply showcase musical taste/ project an online identity.
For privacy purposes, users who respond to our questions will remain anonymous—we will change your username if we write about your responses.
Additionally, if you would prefer that your responses not be connected to your Last.fm username you can email me at whaleboness@gmail.com
Thank you for your time and cooperation. We greatly appreciate your responses and look forward to reading them!
Questions (for reference - or if you have stumbled across my profile feel free to respond!):
1. Why did you initially sign up for Last. Fm? Do you still use Last.fm for this same purpose?
2. Do you think Last.fm charts accurately reflect your musical tastes? Why or why not?
3. Do you get upset if you cannot scrobble a song? For example, if you are in the car listening to a CD instead of at your computer with the audioscrobbler software.
4. Who do you share your Last.fm profile with?
5. Tell me about the first time a song really influenced you.
6. Last.fm was created in order to share music. Tell me about a time Last.fm recommended a band you really love. If you don’t use Last.fm to discover new music then how do you discover new artists/ bands?
7. What are you top 5 bands/ artists. Why?
8. Have you ever been embarrassed by a song that has scrobbled?
Edit:
Thanks to everyone who has been responding to my messages! Your answers are so helpful. You guys are WONDERFUL. :)
xxxx
Note: When I signed up for Last.fm I was given the option of importing my music listening history so that I why I have so many plays in such a short amount of time. I wanted to give respondents the option of viewing my music tastes. :)
Last.fm says this is a feature of new accounts, so if you have an old account, you may not have been given this option upon signing up with the website.
Still curious?
