Since you listen to Dengue Fever you may also like reading my article on Cambodian music. http://www.laboratoriummuzycznychfuzji.com/2013/06/labopedia-muzyka-kambodzy-panstwa-w.html If you like it you may also click "lubię to" button to like my website (on the right handside of the page). There's a translation tool in the top right corner.

Kurt Vile, Woods, Antlers, The XX, and Girls would probably be the most noteworthy new groups I've picked up lately. As far as not-current stuff goes I've been getting into the Mountain Goats (which I also resisted for a long time despite friends adoring John Darnielle. I'd recommend listening to The Sunset Tree (or Come, Come to the Sunset Tree if you prefer lo-fi/no studio production), then Tallahassee and All Hail West Texas to warm up to him), Bob Dylan - who I didn't really appreciate for a long time, and some Motown and a bit of doo-wop.

Due to age and location restrictions, my first chance to see them was this past year. The show was well worth the wait, though: It took place at a Whirlyball rink and had probably a capacity of 100 people, tops. Tim still managed to make his presence known by crowd-surfing from the stage to the bar and then back to the stage on a table he picked up at the bar. It was one of those rare shows after which I felt completely alive and in the moment. That night I realized it: I became a woman at a Les Savy Fav show.

Just found this site today and am superduper excited. I listen to music about 12 hours/day, the 55k listens here are just the last year since my last iTunes install. If my history went back further, it would tilt a lot more toward Elliott Smith, The National, and The New Pornographers, who have been some of my perennial faves. If you've got high overlap with me, friend me! This seems like a terrific way to discover new bands I haven't heard of (or to persuade me to give bands like Mountain Goats a third chance... sure are a lot of people with similar music tastes to me who love that dude)
