Nasty things indeed, hope you get better soon! Anyways, I got an e-mail about the album too, great stuff! Got it pre-ordered.

Haven't been talking you for a while now! Funny thing, I actually saw the Denis Leary show you quoted in your profile now, didn't know the guy before. Anyways, we should get back in touch again!

I definitely agree with you there, there is much music that is still just appealing today as it was back then. It would be interesting to see how much of our music we listen to today will be around 200 years from now. Will it be considered classic art? or incoherent ramblings from a primitive and distant past?

I was just on your page and noticed you were listening to Blue Öyster Cult This Ain't the Summer of Love. AWESOME song!!! I actually went and seen them the last time they were here and it was quite the experience i was by far the youngest person there by 20 years but was still an incredible concert. My favorite song by them would almost certainly be Burning For You i can never get sick of that song!

To me Canada is much like Australia - a mixture of European and US-American ways. I've visited but never lived there, however. What part are you in? I'm in love with Québec and their food culture. - Nina

Mark, thank you for your shout. I actually had no idea that so many of my Top20 albums involve Californians so it's uncalculated if you will. I have only lived in the USA for 6 years (I'm European) but may recognize the sound from a past life... and I'm only half-kidding. ;) Coming to California for the first time was like coming home, very odd. Anyway, I do seem to enjoy this sound the most. My mission has been to go back to the late 60's and 70's to understand the Zeitgeist of my parents' younger days and I've learned a lot these past months. Are you Canadian or did you move from another place as well?

Hi Mark, thanks for the Dolphy recommendation. I already have about 15 albums that I probably should listen to a lot more. If you have anymore 70s recommendations, they are always welcome. Something I found over the last couple weeks while doing some virtual crate diggin, that is my favourite recommendation at the moment, is Igor Wakhévitch. He's a French avantgarde composer who put out several records in the 70s which I love. Logos (70) Docteur Faustus (71) Hathor (73). These are almost impossible to buy but they can be found online. ;-)

À propos de moi

Writer, editor, publisher, philosopher, foole.

"Without music, life would be a mistake." –-Friedrich Nietzsche

"I think it's time for me to finally introduce you to the buena buena buena buena good good good..."
--Mark Sandman

"Well I met a girl at the Rainbow Bar, she asked me if I'd beat her, and she took me back to the Hyatt House - I don't wanna talk about it..." --Warren Zevon

"Because most people think, "Life sucks, and then you die." I disagree. I think life sucks, then you get cancer. Then you go into chemotherapy. You lose all your hair, you feel bad about yourself. Then all of the sudden the cancer goes into remission. You look good you feel good, you're going great, and all of the sudden you have a stroke. You can't move your right side. And one day you step off the curb at 68th by Lincoln Center and bang, you get hit by a bus. And then, maybe, you die." --Denis Leary
