Funeral by Arcade Fire = AWESOMESAUCE!

Arcade Fire made an album for the ages in Funeral. It's like when you meet a stranger, hit it off, hang out for a few weeks or even a few minutes and never see again. You're a little sad, that you know you'll never see them again, but you are happy to know there are people like that out in the world and you were friends for a moment.

I realize that this album is from 2004. I also have not been the biggest fan of indie rock in the past. But I think that has more with not listening to the right stuff. This is the right stuff.

A friend of mine maintains that music has gone nowhere from the 90s. Though I do agree that popular music has been disappointing for the last few years, I can not agree with the statement. I think I may have to play him Blueberry Boat by The Fiery Furnaces (another recent addition to my rotation), that shit is crazy. That album manages to travel all 7 seas (or 5 great lakes) in one sitting and still manages to feel coherent.

I must thank the webcomic Questionable Content, for piquing my curiosity in recent (relatively) indie rock. Although Sam Beam should rename Iron & Wine to Iron & Whine. Sorry man, you go some interesting places musically, but it's nowhere I want to be.

Keep on rockin' and or rolling,
