• R.I.P. John Lennon

    John Winston Ono Lennon
    October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980

27 years ago today, the person who has possibly influenced my life up to this point more than anyone except my immediate family was shot and killed. I don't know why I feel so close to him, then. He died 12 years before I was born, but some maybe wistful maybe just stupid part of me still thinks I'm like him. And I can't really describe why. Probably just because his music affects me in a way no one else's ever has or ever will. Both with The Beatles and on his own, John Lennon was a genius. No one denies that. But he didn't just make beautiful and touching music, he also changed the world. And he tried to change peoples' minds. You know what? He definitely succeeded. He changed my mind and my life. I'd just like to remember him today, a poet, an artist, and a beautiful person.

  • The Decemberists cancelled their tour.

    6 nov. 2007, 16h51m

I was looking forward to it. And by looking forward I mean the news that they cancelled has just ruined my day completely...and they don't plan to reschedule. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather they cancel and let their member recuperate than keep playing and maybe get even sicker but still...bummer.The Decemberists

Which bands/artists do you own the most albums by?
I think it's a tie between The Beatles, The Decemberists and Belle & Sebastian

What was the last song you listened to?
Working Class Hero by John Lennon

What's in your CD player right now?
Uh, n/a? I guess I'll just say the last CD I bought instead. Which was the Across the Universe soundtrack. :)

What was the last show you attended?
    Spoon! Of Montreal tonight though.

What was the greatest show you've ever been to?
The most fun was the Fratellis. I'm pretty sure that when I see the Decemberists this winter that will take the best show ever banner.

What's the worst show you've ever been to?
Eh, O.K.Go were nothing special. Augustana opened though, so it was tolerable.

What's the most musically involved you have ever been?
I don't really play any instruments...I guess I'm just obsessed with listening.

What show are you looking forward to?
Of Montreal tonight, Ryan Adams tomorrow, Of Montreal, Iron & Wine, Bat for Lashes, and the Decemberists later this year.

What is your favorite band shirt?
My Spoon one that has Elizabeth Taylor on it.

What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?
    David Bowie.

Who is one musician or group you wish would make a comeback?
Mmm...I don't really know. Comeback as in they are no longer popular but used to be? Because a lot of the time, that's for good reason. OH I KNOW! MARKY MARK AND THE FUNKY BUNCH!

Who is one band/artist you've never seen live but always wanted to?
    THE BEATLES. Wishful thinking...

How many music related videos/DVDs do you own?
Not too many, though I've been meaning to get that Decemberists one, and I neeeeed A Hard Day's Night.

How many concerts/shows have you been to, total?
Probably like 20. I kind of just started going in earnest this year.

Who have you seen the most live?
    Haven't seen anyone twice.

What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Across the Universe, hands down. Also: The Royal Tenenbaums and The Squid and the Whale.

What was your last musical "phase" before you wisened up?
You mean before I liked good music? I was SO into Good Charlotte and all that, it was embarrassing. I also owend the Aaron Carter cd. yeah.

What's your "guilty pleasure" that you hate to admit to liking?
If I hated to like them, why would I like them? Probably the band people would be surprised to see on my iTunes is Maroon 5, but I only have one song.

In your mind what is the best band?
