  • Giralo, il mondo è grande, giralo!

    3 fév. 2009, 18h49m

    Mo., 2. Feb. – Nevio

  • Nevio in Concert - The first show after leaving German Idol (DSDS)

    24 jui. 2006, 21h47m

Neustadt an der Aisch (Frankonia), 24 March 2006

Exactly one month after his "sudden death" and 4th place at the "German idol", the emerging pop singer Nevio Passaro presented himself on stage in his home town in upper Bavaria.

My tears have dried ... *g* but I still love the way this guy sings, giving sense to every song. For instance, after he had sung one of my most-hated songs "I believe I can fly" - YES, I believe you everything.

So I am very curious what this first "self-organized" concert would be about. Still not having heard more than 10 songs from the shows and two songs from his first single in 1999, I am hungry to see and hear more of this young artist. How far did his musical ambition get him up to now? Is he really the "TRUE MUSICIAN" he loves to talk about? Hearing is believing. So let's hear.

Feeling a bit odd to travel three hours to a concert of a so-called "no name", just about slightly stupid to melt into the shouting and crying crowd of real teenagers eager to catch an autograph of the idol-stars, I grin at myself. Curiosity kills the cat!

Well, at last I'm here, save and - thirsty. The bloody Markgrafenhalle is like hell. Pretty hot. And stuffed. 3.000 fit in the hall, 3.400 have entered somehow. And I don't think they have come to see one of the other "Idol" candidates.

Fighting bit by bit for a better position in the crowd... nearly unnoticed, I slip over a fence and try to keep a low profile among the kids *g* Drinking water and sorting out my camera and stuff.

Finally, the show starts with a friend-singer of his. The name is Marinco. Marinco. Wtf is Marinco? What a stunning voice... after the first two tones I'm in love. Nevio has such friends? Great start. Marinco sings two opening songs which I completely can't remember *g* But it's the sound of his voice I didn't forget.

Next, it's time for rock and roll! Knock Me Out, weirdly enough called "the band of Nevio's little brother Flavio", rocks the stage. With a punk cover of "My heart will go on", endless covers from Bryan Adams to J. Geils Band / JBO they rock the house, and we are getting in the mood *g*
While performing "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes, Dani and Kapfi, the two singers, shout "Ne-Ne-Ne-Ne-Ne-vio" and then for the brother "Fla-Fla-Fla-Fla-Fla-vio". We all shout with them. I think this genious version is something everyone of us will remember happily ever after.

Then a break. Everybody's getting nervous. Most of us haven't seen Nevio live before. IS HE REAL? Or will he just appear on some giant screen again?

Before you see him, you hear it. Not him. The fans. Yelling, whistling, crying out. Unbelievable. Is there Robbie Williams, the Pope, or Elvis coming up the stage? No, it's "only" Nevio Passaro, a hardly-known half-italian singer. My gosh.

He smiles at the audience, sits down behind the black baby grand and starts with, as he will tell us afterwards, a very important song for him: Il cielo di Firenze by Paolo Vallesi. Marvellous. Nobody in the whole wide Markgrafenhalle knows this song, I guess. And how typical Nevio to start with a song not quite popular with these fans. But who cares. It's magic. Yes, I believe his heart is there.

Track #2 is a song I've probably heard before, though it never had flashed me in any way: Adesso Tu.
Beautiful. ... Who the hell is Eros Ramazotti? It may sound odd, but after having heard it from Nevio, I won't need to hear Adesso Tu from anyone else ever again.

Thank you so far, Eros. You're dismissed!

Song #3 brings us hardly back to here and now. He announces it as follows: "Some years ago, I recorded a single. Before I participated in German Idol, the single was worth less than a 50 eurocents at Ebay, less than a virgin compact disc. But these days I've looked at Ebay again, and I've seen the same single for more than 100 Euro! And this is also - what am I saying, not ALSO, but SOLELY YOUR MERIT. Thank you." The Audience goes bananas *ggg*
Then he sings the song from the single, "La mia parola" - as he did in 1998 in the theatre 'Marina di Ascea' near Salerno/Naples, with the voice of a 18-years old then. Now he is 25 with a more mature voice. Strange to hear the song again "after all these years". But it still makes sense. He even seems to fit it better now. More mature, with a somehow heavier voice. And finally, he sings a composition of his own. Because a concert with solely covers would be a bit strange and not fit to his musical ambition.

<How many characters do I have left? *ggg* >
I'll continue some other time and go to sleep now. ***
