Wow...are you me? My favourites mirror yours exactly! It's so good to find a Björk fan that appreciates Medúlla. That album is a strange beast. It's really odd and experimental, with mostly human produced 'instrumentals' and whatnot, and as a fan, I favour her more 'poppy' stuff than her experimental stuff of later years but Medúlla is just sublime. First listen and I was hooked which usually doesn't happen with albums that strange. Desired Constellation just gives me chills all over. Vespertine, I don't think I need to expound on; it's divine! I'm with you on PJ Harvey. It's hard to pick a favourite because she's this crazy versatile woman who finds success in whatever new musical field she ventures into. But yeah, White Chalk being piano driven was almost tailor made for me, and incidentally my first taste of PJH. The chords in that album haunt me. Rid of Me is the one I go to when I want to let off some steam. Perhaps the ultimate rage album for me lol.

You're welcome! :) You have such a diverse taste. From bubblegum pop to psychadelic/indie pop/rock stuff and more. Lots of stuff in common with what I listen to, but also a lot I can draw from (if you don't mind lol :P). What's your favourite PJ Harvey and Björk stuff? I'm so due for a marathon listening session for both haha.

You haven't listened to any music for four days! Talking of ghosts, do you believe? I don't know if we've ever had the conversation, but I once had an eerie experience. Perhaps that's a story I'll save for Halloween. Great, anybody browsing through your shouts will now assume I'm a nutjob.

PJ is alright and I've never been a fan of Tori Amos, so I suppose my question is: where do you stand on borderline-obsessive Kate Bush fans who wear floral shirts and hold roses? Kate Bush, naturally, being my alternative female gay icon of choice. You'll be amused to know that I got soaked to the skin and blasted by wind last night, but relieved to know that I survived. Well, clearly.

I'd love to see you in drag as Geri. If you don't have your Union Jack skirt hitched so high that your ginger pubes are on display it'll be a wasted show. I'm having an intimate late night Carpenters marathon. Karen's voice is melting me.

Hey, I was re-checking your music and some of the movies you have as favorites. All good, all good. Love your 3 most listened artists here. I salute you for that.

Oh, you little sweetheart. I'll have to download the Superhumanoids album, it's not yet available on Spotify, at least in the UK.

Have you heard the new Arcade Fire single? It was produced by James Murphy and features Bowie on backing vocals. I fell to the floor when I heard they'd collaborated. Talk about a dream team. It really is a shame that we missed each other, since bonding over music is such bliss. Most people I know in person (ie, away from last.fm) are pop fans and, as a person who could name no more than a handful of tracks in top 40, bonding possibilities are limited. I didn't really get to see either city for various reasons, not least because I was based in San Diego. My flattering assertion was based on common knowledge I'm afraid! That said, I definitely plan on a return trip to California. Which of the two cities suits you best? I have an affinity with the western states. Perhaps I'm being idealistic, but growing up on a cramped, grey island has left me with a longing for huge skies and roads stretching beyond the horizon. God, how I wish I could use more than 1000 characters in these shouts.

As a newcomer to Bjork, the most startling thing I've noticed is the contrast between her more commercial-sounding 90s work and her experimental 00s stuff. Both are wonderful, but I find her experimental side a little more interesting. I'm looking forward to listening to Vespertine and Post later tonight. I dunno about you, but Bjork's music and imagery reminds me of nature, much like Fever Ray had me transfixed four years ago. Perhaps there's something in the Scandinavian genome that allows for earthy, ethereal electronica? Hah. Actually, I spent quite a while in California earlier this summer. I miss it dearly, so I say that you're a lucky to boy to have lived in two of the greatest cities on earth in the greatest of states. Well, the night is descending as I write this, the lampposts are just flickering into life and I'm going to the cinema to catch a midnight movie in a few hours. Yes, like you, I'm a complete night owl. The words "healthy circadian rhythms" mean nothing to me.

You should make it your mission to go! I'm sure you'll take artistic inspiration from the volcanic landscapes, near-perpetual darkness and Norse folklore. I doubt I'll leave Reykjavik because of the difficulties of travel that far North in December, but I'm super excited regardless. Oceania and Triumph of a Heart stood out, but like you said, it's an experimental album so it deserves a second listen. Did you know that the proceeds generated by Mount Wittenberg Orca went to the Oceans Initiative at National Geographic? Nice little touch. Thank Wiki for that piece of info. Where in the US are you? I see you listening as I type this, it must be rather late/early wherever you are.

As for collaborative stuff, I'm guessing you've heard Bjork + Dirty Projectors? Mount Wittenberg Orca is a lovely little EP. I'm having overly-romantic fantasies about sitting in the snow, watching aurora borealis while Bjork/Sigur Ros/múm set the mood. Do you ever feel the need to find music with a certain feel to fit a situation, music that enhances the atmosphere? I'm going to a castle this afternoon so I'm going to raid Spotify for medieval folk once Medúlla is over (which, by the way, is fantastic).

Then Medúlla is where I'll start, nothing like throwing yourself in at the deep end! I prefer to explore an artist one album at a time, which is why I've only listened to Debut so far, which I loved. I'm going to Iceland in a few months, and I'm determined to use Bjork as my soundtrack. Also, PJ: Let England Shake and Dry make for good starting points, right? Oh, and lazy Sundays were made for having ears metaphorically talked off, so fear not. In the past it was a long, droning church sermon; I'd much rather music.

À propos de moi

Cater-waiter, amateur "illustrator" (mostly cater-waiter), and general music addict. I like dick, I like cosplay, and I like liking things. If you want to add me for no other reason than to network, you go right ahead—it ain't no thang. All I ask is that our musical compatibility be better than High (unless we're actually friends, of course).

My super-eclectic score is currently
