Don't diss GaGa! She and Rihanna are the "avant-garde pop stars of the mainstream population". That's as far as they're willing to go atm. lol

It's not luck when you're good lol ;). I heard you might be performing in the awards? I'm not entirely sure how that works for the "performers" but that would be cool lol.

I haven't heard "She" yet. I'm really loving this album though. This is...desert island worthy. And dang, I just heard that Ladyhawke tune "my delerium". It's pretty sweeeet. Looks like this nu-rave thing is still going strong.

It IS some kind of miracle. 100 tunes of nearly flawless pop. They have to be the most consistent group in history. Haha, maybe I'm exaggerating, but I'm sure there many who would agree. Well, those who care to give them a chance. I actually remember bumping into this British tourist in Japan. He was really into the Pete Doherty, Libertines and Arctic Monkeys. I asked him what he thought of GA and he was pretty shocked. I guess it's not everyday some asian dude from the states asks about some random girlgroup from the UK. In the end the was nothing but dismissive of them, too bad!

One listen through, and I can already say this could be my favorite GA album. The title of this record is so misleading. This sounds like GA more "in control" than ever. Definitely a more mature record. Probably their most balanced work to date. It's as if they took their formula and simply dropped the volume/BPM a tad. What a difference it makes. I like that every track here is kind of a slow burner; nothing that grabs you with great urgency on first listen like most of their older works (then again I HAVE been rotating eargasmic WWTNS and TU tracks back and forth all month long). The Loving Kind is great, however Untouchable is absolutely EPIC! So fucking tragic. The last minute of Miss You Bow Wow is such a tease. Somebody is going to stretch that minute in what could be a killerrrr remix, just you wait. Live the Country is pet sounds and amen breaks oh my. Pretty great. Nice to hear them digging deeper after scaling such heights.

it truly is a dying art! to be honest i never even heard of stephen jones but looked him up and think he's fabulous. thanks! have you thought of making your own beret? it would be incredibly easy and since its hard to find decent berets it would be better. i really like the hardy jacket. though it would look shit on me. and hey where's my pm lady?!

that is so wonderful! may i ask who the designer was? mbv must have been so heavenly. did they play any of their indiepop material though i highly doubt it. i've been much better esp health-wise. just pretty much getting my life together. lol learning to drive again and millinery (hat making). i decided i'm more suited to a career that i can use my hands and creativity. plus i have a vintage hat addiction. so yeah i made a beret and will make a feather headband concoction tomorrow. its such great fun.

The Vines=value for money. Really entertaining. Some guy evaded security (twice!) and squeezed Craig's ass. Definite LOL moment.

Guess I have enough reasons to check out Ladyhawke now lol. PM'd Lily's single on Pulse if you still don't have it. I like it but it lacks that definitive oomph.

It's awesome isn't it. Like the 90's never happened! I hope the GA does not let me down, would be such a disappointment.

Check your inbox. I actually like The Promise a lot. The Loving Kind sounds amazing. I can't believe it's out in like a couple of weeks. I need to order it from somewhere. I'm seeing The Vines this Saturday, even though dare I say it, am over them :0 I'll tell Craig to stop wasting his youthful good looks and kooky personality and make a decent record.

Well that is good. Hopefully she's being her usual probably-stubborn self and and the record label caved, because SERIOUSLY. WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY THINKING. "Happy pop music sells. The Fact that in making such music Shirley would alienate her base is of no consistence. BeautifulGarbage went quadruple platinum, right? That had a few pop songs on it. It was quadruple, right?" It's MIND BOGGLING.

The Shirley solo album is back on? what's your source? are they making her turn it into a pop album or are they letting her do what she wants? The last thing I read was that the record company thought it was "too dark" and they wanted her to lighten it up. I hope to God she doesn't, because I'm not hoping for Gwen Sephani 2, I'm looking forward to Shirley Manson.

Goldfrapp were very good. They played a nice mixture, Ooh La La, #1, Black Cherry.. The order of the encore was somewhat anti-climatic - Strict Machine then Some People.

Thanks for the Kills tracks Col. Btw, you need to visit Tokyo. The style! The colors! The prints! I think you'd find yourself right at home strolling the streets of Harajuku or Shibuya (I can see where Gwen gets her inspiration, it's a fashion designer's wet dream indeed). The place oozes effortless cool, and everybody just looks so damn good. Ah Tokyo, where this is no such thing as a fashion mishap!

Haha, I didn't. I watched a little bit of the gymnastics and swimming events while on the subway (each subway car in Beijing is fitted with flat panel TV screens giving non-stop olympics coverage). I could only score tickets to the Archery and Rowing events, as scalping swimming/diving/gymnastics tickets would've cost me 3000 RMB each (~$450USD). Aside from the olympics, I went to the infamous D-22 venue in Beijing a few days ago, which is the epicenter of the Beijing underground music scene. The venue looks like the Knitting Factory (it's small) but the environment was so incredibly exciting. It's like being in NYC in 1978 and watching an era begin. Anyways, I have tons of amazing music that I have to send your way. You'll be surprised. Ok, gotta go, Tokyo is calling!

I think you'll be amused to know that I found Girls Aloud and Sugababes songs in a Shanghai Karaoke bar last week (they even had "walk this way" in there.) Sadly, I may have turned an entire nation away from them after butchering Sexy No! No! No! Oh well, I fared a bit better with the Ting Tings. I find it funny how these karaoke songlists are SO comprehensive and up-to-date, and yet none of these songs are even remotely popular here. haha. Anyways, zie jian!
