It's very likely that you'll hear most, if not all, of these songs: Hurricane J, Rock Problems, Stuck Between Stations, Sequestered in Memphis, Your Little Hoodrat Friend, You Can Make Him Like You, Magazines, Chips Ahoy!, Stay Positive, Soft In The Center, The Swish, Constructive Summer, The Weekenders. I can't guarantee anything though. You never know what the band is going to pull out on any given night. I've seen them 8 times and no two shows have been the same, let alone even being close to being the same. Some nights they'll split things evenly between the albums, some nights will focus on BaGiA or SepSun or HiW or whatever, some nights you'll get to hear a bunch of rarely played tracks (like First Night or Positive Jam or b-sides like Girls Like Status). The absolute best thing you can do is to not expect anything, because you're likely to just end up being disappointed. Instead, just try and really appreciate and enjoy what they DO play, rather than what they don't.

I saw them three times when they came here to Los Angeles (and San Diego) just a month ago. Saw them on the first three dates of the tour, the 3rd 4th and 5th: they played every song from the new album throughout the three shows. They play different songs pretty much every night. You should just hope that they open with "Sweet Part of the City," hearing it open the night's festivities is bloody brilliant. I expect to hear all the details from the show when you go! I'm seeing them when they come back to Cali in August. Gonna be awesome.

Haha, yes I have. I'm a part of the super-snobby super-elite super-secret forum that leaked the album to the internet first :P I haven't given it many listens, but I've really liked what I've heard. I'm so caught up with listening to the new albums by The National and The Hold Steady that everything else has been put on the back burner for a bit, which means I'm getting really behind with keeping up with things like I usually do. Also, I see you are seeing The Hold Steady in two days. You have to promise me you will rock the fuck out. I will know if you don't. I always stand in the very front, right in front of Craig. I know how to lead the party pit. Is it your first Hold Steady show?

Nice, I don't think I know anybody from the dirrrrrrty south or SC! Cali is awesome. I love it here. I don't know if you've heard of them, but The National are a really cool band similar to The Hold Steady, Wolf Parade, and The Mountain Goats that just came out with a new album. They're a great band, just taking a glance over your taste makes me think that you would really like them. I don't know how you get your music, but if you like to go the "cheaper" route just let me know and I will send you download links for their last three albums - all masterpieces as far as I'm concerned.

Why thanks :P And hell yeah, BaGiA is probably my favorite album of all time (just look at all those scrobbles! lol). You're cool too. I wish I had known about the Hold Steady when I was your age! Back then I listened to complete crap...I'm glad I grew out of that. Haha. Also, not to be a complete stalker, where in the United States are you from? I'm a California boy, myself.

That begs the question...who is the asshole that broke your heart? ;-) jk, of course. I love that song as well, but I think if I had to choose a favorite I would go with "First Night." I'm a sucker for a good crescendo and piano. Good taste, btw!
