This gig was everything I hoped it would be, and I've wanted to see him for many years now.
Jeff Beck played an almost-entirely instrumental set with an energetic and jaw-droppingly competent trio. The stage production was as flawless as the playing.
Alternating furious up-tempo ensemble pieces with more delicate tunes like Over The Rainbow, Beck played many of my favourite tracks, ranging mainly from the Guitar Shop days to the new stuff on Emotion & Commotion.
One gruff middle-aged member of the audience rather hilariously yelled "I love you Jeffrey!", and I can understand why Beck's playing has this effect on grown men.
I can't adequately express my admiration for Beck's mastery of the guitar, and for his sheer ballsy confidence in recreating his most demanding tunes at full unforgiving volume right there in front of an audience. Glorious!
