Yes, her characterisation might be my favourite thing about the film. She went through such a transformation, but it never seemed contrived to me. The idea of vampires stealing blood from medical facilities to avoid having to kill people is one that I've been wanting to see for a long time. I like how it was done. My main complaint (quite a minor one) is that the jumping and flying effects are not very convincing, which I find a little distracting.

Glad to hear it. Near Dark has the aura of a 1980s film, but I don't think that detracts from it in any way (I think Blue Velvet is VERY 1980s, and only an idiot would criticise that). As for Thirst, I liked it a lot on the initial viewing. Even more than any of the vengeance films, which is probably due to my cinematic upbringing being rooted firmly in the horror tradition, so I'm biased. The humour really worked for me, and I think the ideas in this film about love between a vampire and a human, and about the desire to become a vampire, owe a debt to Near Dark, even though they are very different overall. I'll definitely be watching it again. I just wish I could see it in a cinema.

Almost finished downloading Thirst. These are exciting times. Also, you should definitely watch Near Dark. There's a strange Western atmosphere to it, which is interesting for a vampire film, and Adrian Pasdar is as excellent in it as ever.
