Kent's a funny story...I have this obsession with all things Scandinavian, the music in particular. Initially I was most interested in Denmark and even tried (and failed) to teach myself Danish some years ago...then a friend of mine put a Kent track on a mix CD, it was pretty bad quality though so I didn't really listen to it properly. By chance I re-listened to it some months later and fell in love, became obsessed and finally bought their 10 album boxset last Feb. Lyrics are generally secondary to music for me, but in Kent's case the lyrics are really beautiful and made me want to learn Swedish to fully appreciate them. So I taught myself, mainly by listening to them, and now have am a pretty intermediate speaker. So they mean a lot to me for that reason, but the music stands on its own too. Du & Jag Döden is their darkest and one of my favourite albums of all time, I just adore it... It also makes me think of April '08, my first month at work, overcast skies & walking around town...

Hmmm I get a bit like that sometimes, never lasts too long, but sometimes i just feel like I have to listen to something new and can keep feeling that way/searching until I find something I like. Once I've found something new that I like, I can either become mildly obsessed and look for more material from the artist or not be moved that much, but enough to look for similar, more interesting artists. I didn't say it's only about months & seasons, that's just how I categorise it. All my music is ordered and stored that way, in 'chronological' order. And by 'seasons' I mean more the feelings I associate with the seasons...summer is a warm orange evening, winter is crisp overcast morning (yes, I romanticise it...and I choose to ignore the wind :P)...also beginnings and endings, of years, of seasons...As for the declining listens over time, that's a byproduct of my 'seek and overplay' approach to new music.

Hahahaha really? I rate that's just because you don't check my page that often...if I discover a new band or song that I really like I generally play it obsessively for a while then have to give it some breathing room or I'd completely play it to, during the 'breathing room' period I'll listen to old favourites or other new discoveries. Of course I have favourites, those are the ones I'll go back to over and over again and love and know backwards. But every now and then I get an itch to listen to something completely new (even though it's rarely 'completely' new, as I gravitate towards certain genres) and can't actually listen to anything I already know, sorta the equivalent of feeling loose-endish, but with music. As for associative memory, all the music I like is associated with the season/month and year in which I either discovered it or listened to it a lot, or sometimes with a completely random I have plenty of musical associations, don't you worry ;)

Hahaha ah cool, well glad to help ;) I think they're great, some really lovely songs. Ketch Harbour Wolves are cool too, also sorta laid-back and folky, 'Words' and 'So long to the ground' are definitely worth checking out...

Hey, I hope you're doing alright there. Thinking about you... and worrying about you, too. *walks off to marinate meat*

Do you know that you can change the settings and make this thing show your most popular artists over the last month instead of "overall"? That would cure the "Death Cab for Cutie" problem.
