    It is indeed. 39 is no age to die. I thought of you too yesterday but didn't know if you knew already. I'm so grateful to you for introducing me to his work. Some of his songs have become very close to my heart. Just wish he got the help he needed, or had the strength to beat his illness, but sadly 'twasn't to be. A sad sad loss. xx

    hey... sorry for the late reply, wow, wish i could of gone to that tour ): i saw them las week at the brixton gig though, was really good, they were a bit rusty and i felt like the PA system couldn't handle the bass at all, but it was still great! I met Thurston Moore and J Mascis inside the venue too (: They only played one new song though, which was a shame but it was great to hear! What you make of the new album? I think it's pretty incredible being the fanboy i am!

    Very exited! And yes it is! Is it your first time too?.. can' wait to find out the support act either (: I had a mate who went to their last london gig who saw graham coxen and patti smith outside the venue, so i hope that happens again too!

    Yeah, I guess yer right about Vic Chesnutt's voice mebbe tho' I like a bit of a creaky, croaky voice. Sounds lived in, & Vic's was most definately lived in. He was one helluva character. met him a couple o' times. Shared a bottle o' whiskey with him & Howe once & once made him laugh so hard he nearly fell backwards out of his wheelchair. I reckon his writing is up there with some o' the greatest writers ever. A contrary article if ever there was one, but very loved & deeply missed by many. Yep. Check out Sweet relief. It's a good mix.(Even got Madonna on bv on one track-not that she contributes much) Rozi Plain's from Bristol & loved when I saw her live last year. Haven't completely made up my mind about the Shivers myself. Might have to buy the album. Supposed to be interesting live. Hopefully get to see sometime this year. Always happy to recommend stuff(my favourite thig to do!) Doin' okay. Gonna be a grandma in June! Yikes!!! xxxx

    Well t'aint the easiest of albums of his (Howes' )to get into & it's a hard 'un to listen to all the way through though there's tracks on there that are some o' my very favourite (Hisser, Creeper, Propulsion). Definately a late night listen after a few beers or a smoke & it all clicks. It's a sad album cos it was mostly a tribute to Howes friend Rainer who was dyin' of a brain tumour.( Soldier of Fortune was recorded in Rainer's hospital room close to the end) & also a celebration of his son Lukas's birth (This Purple Child). Guess it helps if you know a little about Howe & his life. Think Giant Sand's Chore of Enchantment'd be an easier introduction but see how ya get on, Music's a funny thing.     OOOH I had that on VHS. The front cover with the same piccie from the Spit album? haha I always had a crush on Fallon and I don't even know why?. I always listen to the bands that remind me of school haha x
