    I didn't know they had a new album. I saw a preview of P.O.D.'s upcoming album, and I like what I hear.

    Oh not too bad. Completed a couple construction projects on farms. We have one more at the county fair that needs to be completed before June 30th, but it hasn't started yet, so it's getting kind of scary. I'm also applying for grants to do more projects next summer. I obviously haven't been listening to much music lately.

    Hi Matt! That's absolutely ok, man) I'm alright. Really so many things happened since i wrote to you last time, haha)) Worked for about four months in Mali, pretty much ambiguous experiance, as a job and as life as it is, man.. Two months ago returned back home in Tyumen, summer is coming, so i'm excited to spend more time with friends somewhere in forests.

    Yeah, I think it would be better without the hardcore influences, but the lead guitars and vocals are nice as always. But upon further listen, it's even more core than I thought last night haha. It has its good moments and the leads in Calm Before the Snowstorm are good despite the breakdowns, but I guess I'll have to wait for Crimson Moonlight or something for a really good 2015 album. It seems more and more that the melodic black metal bands stay metal while the melodic death metal bands go deathcore, which shouldn't be surprising I guess. Anyway, for some reason I really like the song "Snowstorm", even though it probably has more breakdowns than any of the other songs, probably because it somehow maintains a greater uniqueness despite this fact. But it's definitely not my favorite release from them.

    Have you had a chance to check out Immortal Souls' new album "Wintermetal"? So far it sounds pretty good. It could use to have less breakdowns IMO but it's still good.

    Which Project 86 album would you say is your favorite out of their discography? My top two are Drawing Black Lines and Wait For the Siren. I like how they've been experimenting in their recent material.

    Yeah, I guess I've seen them before. I try not to listen to secular bands anymore, because often the message in their music is not good at all. I especially dislike radio. I listen to a Christian station up here called the Family Life Network.

    I previewed P86's songs from their latest album on iTunes. I'm not sure how I feel about what I heard. To me (with only one listen each and only about 30 seconds of each song so take it FWIW) most of the songs sounded the same, and they have the same feel as the past several albums. I'm trying to save up money for a vacation this summer, so I'm trying to refrain from buying new music... Maybe I should give them another listen.. Are you keeping warm down there? I heard it's been cold. We've had several mornings below zero the last two weeks, which is colder than normal for here, but we're more used to it than you southern folks are!

    I had P.O.D. binge this week. They made so many diverse albums over the years. I'm a big fan. I listened to the NYVES songs I could find... I have to say I'm not really impressed. Basically with Ryan singing, it's Demon Hunter, except with different background "music."

    Sounds like you've got a good handle on the new releases. I think P86 came out with one recently? I've been out of the scene for awhile. An interesting side project with some P86 and DH alumni called NYVES intrigues me, but I haven't had a listen yet.

Beyond the twinkling of the moon, far from this dark abyss,
Past valleys deep, and hillocks fair, and mountains veiled in mist;
Over winding streams, and oceans deep, and Fangorn’s dark floor,
There lies in endless beauty fair the land of Valinor.
I long to go and dwell in this land of undying bliss,
To feel the warmth of Summer and forsake Winter’s cold kiss;
To wander in the gardens fair and climb the mountains steep,
To hear the flutes of brethren Elves and visit Manwë’s Keep.
O Valinor! Too long have I dwelt upon these bleak shores,
Beset by doubts, beleaguered and worn, weary of all wars.
O Valinor! I feel your breeze from the Shadowy Seas;
I hear the song of blissful birds from all your wooded leas.
To this place I must go, to join my sundered kindred there,
Though none may take me to this hallowed land so dear and fair!

Until the End We Rock by Bride

Pleased to meet you. My name is Matthew. I am an English teacher and a graduate of the University of Florida. If you're visiting my page, be sure to leave a shout! If we share the same musical tastes that's fine; if not, I'm sure we can find something to talk about. I listen mostly to metal and rock, with a goodly portion of jazz, classical, and Johnny Cash thrown in every once in a while. But you can look at my charts. The first thing that you need to know about me is that I love to write. For me, writing is the means by which I unleash the immeasurable depths of my creative soul. From a young age, I have been writing and imagining. A writer without imagination will not get far. Whether it's working on the novel I'm writing, crafting a short story, or typing away at my latest music review, I'm bound to be actively pursuing writing. It goes without saying that I read just as much. No one can be a good writer without reading on a frequent basis. A writer without his book is like a fisherman without his fishing pole. I want to write epic science-fiction in the vein of Frank Herbert, Larry Niven, Greg Bear, and Orson Scott Card.

I am also strong in my faith. As a Christian, a lot of the music that I listen to falls within that lyrical category. However, I will listen to most anything as long as it doesn't displace my beliefs. I believe that the most important field of scientific study is Astronomy and the exploration of the solar system, our galaxy, and the Universe itself. A burdened, overpopulated Earth must find eventual relief for its people, or it may perish by over-exploitation and general misuse. The wonders of the Universe itself are reason enough to explore the vast and unreachable depths of space.

The above image was taken with the Hubble telescope. In this extreme deep field view, each of the points of light are entire galaxies! The scope of the Universe is certainly staggering, and worthy of awe.

So what is the novel I am writing about? Here are just a few teasers. It delves into artificial intelligence, robotics, ethics, planetary exploration, astronomy, religion, betrayal, romance, leadership, desolation, rebirth, conservation, politics, empire, and appetite. It spans multiple galaxies that are populated by various beings. Sorry, but I can't tell you much more than that!

Those are just a few things about me! If you want to talk about something, whether it's music, literature, or religion, just drop me a line. Browse around my page here and tell me what you think.

Yes, I jam the "love" button a lot. But who in this world doesn't need more love? Oh, and my page is always changing. I'm always adding and deleting things!

I've walked the beautiful fields of Armageddon and trembled before the Holocaust gates. I lost my breath somewhere in-between and found myself no longer fearing for my safety.

Far from the sky my thoughts are waning. Far from the sky my life is draining. Ever the nightfall kills the sun and the stars are seducing everyone. They clamber to heed the mindless ones as ever the night falls far..
