I have a significantly large collection of vinyl. A few years ago, I would always listen to records. I kept my record player next to my bed and would listen to tunes all day and night.

But then I got obsessed about last.FM statistics. Records don't scrobble! If only…

I buy more and more albums all the time but I don't listen to them. Why? Because it won't show up on my charts! I don't want my charts to be invalid!

Last.FM has really done it with the mixed blessing that is the free full tracks. Now even listening to music over the internet is dictated by the charts. As I sit here, 4 in the morning, listening to The Boxer coming out of shitty computer speakers, I think to myself, why aren't I listening to the Bridge Over troubled water album on vinyl, watching that large black disk spin and spin and crackle and hiss?
