Regular readers will know that I've been trying to see a band starting with each letter of the alphabet during 2008. We finished this off on Friday with a Queen tribute. Some of the highlights were:
- Most skilful use of a wheelie bin on stage: John Otway and Wild Willy Barret.
- Most erratic Nirvana cover version: Winston Echo.
- Band least able to engage with the audience: XX Teens.
- Band hardest to get within sight of: Glasvegas.
- Most shambolic performance: Lily Allen trying to sing for Mark Ronson.
- Best clog dancing: Rachel Unthank and the Winterset.
- Band that Steve Lamacq is most likely to stand next to you during: The Kabeedies.
- Cleanest wellies at Glastonbury: Steve Lamacq.
- Freddy Mercury impersonator least able to button his tight trousers all the way to the top: Queen on Fire.
- Band most likely to have a bonkers support act: Misty's Big Adventure.
- Performance of Hallelujah likely to be better than anything that X Factor bashes out: James Nye.
- Most tea drunk on stage: Billy Bragg.
For fact fans, here follows the complete list. Of course, I saw more than one band for many of the more common letters; I've listed the first act I saw for each letter, not necessarily my favourite.
