Thu 17 May – St. Vincent, Shearwater
Shearwater, though fine for a couple of spins if you like your indieh rock inoffensive and with possibly some mild pretensions, seemed like the tens of thousands of other indieh rock bands that don't open for St. Vincent, with lackluster amounts of passion and awesome.
I was however, not there to see Shearwater, I was there for St. Vincent. Although I was really only truly acquainted with their newest album, Strange Mercy, they were quite the force to be reckoned with. Annie Clark was solid on stage, herky-jerky leg movements and all.
The best part of all however, was when Ms. Clark did a quasi-stage-dive, and I was right under her as it all went down.
Some of the bantering included shit about Mother's day, and about the song Walkin' in Memphis, which she almost (but thank fuck she didn't) sing.
Shearwater: 4/10
St. Vincent: 9/10
Overall: 7.8/10
