Got three new albums.

I ordered three albums cause I'd like to have 'em. It's not fun to just have music on your pc. It's good to have a nice album every now and then that you can just play on your stereosystem/discman w/e.

With that said I'd like to introduce you to my new cd's ;)

* The Libertines - Up the bracket
* The Prodigy - Fat of the land
* The Strokes - First impressions of earth

There is ofcourse a huge downside to buying albums.
Almost all albums have songs on them you don't like.
So that's why downloading songs is preffered.
To be honest, I expected more of some of the artists.
I will now write a couple of reviews about them cause I'm a bit bored at the moment. Here goes…

"Vertigo" – 2:37
"Death on the Stairs" – 3:24
"Horrorshow" – 2:34
"Time for Heroes" – 2:40
"Boys in the Band" – 3:42
"Radio America" – 3:44
"Up the Bracket" – 2:40
"Tell the King" – 3:22
"The Boy Looked at Johnny" – 2:38
"Begging" – 3:20
"The Good Old Days" – 2:59
"I Get Along" – 2:51

I consider myself a fan of The Libertines. Not a huge fan because I don't like all songs but atleast a fan that totally ADORES a select few songs. I knew the album included the songs 'Time for Heroes', 'The good old days' and 'I get along'. I absolutely love those songs. I read alot of reviews about this album and all of them were telling enthausiastic that there was nothing like it and that it was an amazing album.
I do not agree on those rewarding words. Ofcourse, Taste is something elusive but I would describe this album as 'some dudes playing the guitar in a garage not taking their music very serious and not putting enough effort in the songs they play.'
I'll continue to be a fan of the Libertines but I have to say that the parting of the band and with that the formation of the Dirty Pretty Things is probably the best thing that could have ever happened to Carl Bârat.

"Smack My Bitch Up" - 5:42
"Breathe" - 5:35
"Diesel Power" - 4:17
"Funky Shit" - 5:16
"Serial Thrilla" - 5:11
"Mindfields" - 5:40
"Narayan" - 9:05
"Firestarter" - 4:40
"Climbatize" - 6:36
"Fuel My Fire" - 4:19

I think the Prodigy is an amazing group. I've loved their music ever since I've heard my first Prodigy song. That's why I just had to have this album and I am ashamed that untill now I didn't own this album.
I'm sure everybody knows the songs Smack My Bitch Up, Breathe and Firestarter. But this album has alot more to offer than that. Songs like Diesel Power and Funky Shit are real cool songs. They just have me bouncing all over the place with their catchy beats. Mindfields and Narayan could be considered a little less aggressive but they are still nice to listen to although they have less dance ingrediënts ;)
Climbatize is one of the lesser songs if you ask me but as of the rest : THIS ALBUM IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!! and if you like a good beat and aggressive dance sounds (which I know you do ^^) this album is the right thing for you :)

"You Only Live Once" – 3:09
"Juicebox" – 3:17
"Heart in a Cage" – 3:27
"Razorblade" – 3:29
"On the Other Side" – 4:38
"Vision of Division" – 4:20
"Ask Me Anything" – 3:12
"Electricityscape" – 3:33
"Killing Lies" – 3:50
"Fear of Sleep" – 4:00
"15 Minutes" – 4:34
"Ize of the World" – 4:29
"Evening Sun" – 3:06
"Red Light" – 3:11

I like The Strokes alot. I know they have a couple of very strong songs like Juicebox, which is one of my favorites, but they also have rather tranquil and sometimes somewhat boring songs. now usually I don't mind a slow, quiet song but on this album I think there are simply too much of those. I already knew 'You only live once' and 'Juicebox' and I've heard 'Heart in a cage' somewhere before I guess. Heart in a cage is an absolute BRILLIANT song and I like it alot. also the number 4 'Razorblade' is a pretty good song. The songs after that didn't sound very special to me and I would call them 'down' cause some of the lyrics are a bit depressing. This might sound a bit negative, but I do feel that this album has potential. For me that is. Cause I'm digging the music and I'll be listening to this album quite a while I guess and I'm sure I'll like some of the other songs more and more aswell.

In the end i'm very happy with my new songs :D
'Up the bracket' is a bit of a dissapointment for me but I guess that's just because of the high expectations I had… Besides, the albums of the Prodigy and The strokes make up big time for the good songs I missed at 'Up the Bracket'.

Feel free to discuss anything from the above with me ;)
yours sincerely,
¤ Josh ¤
