À propos de moi

It all began when Louis made his first "mix" tape for a girl using his parents double tape deck. It wasn't actually mixing but more like some early edit work putting songs after each other and cutting them on certain places.

He liked doing this so he also started to record his parents records trying to blend everything he got his hands on. During this period he also started to notice that there was more to the pick-up and secretly made his first scratches with his mother's Mantovani records.

He was about 15 when a friend of his showed him 2 turntables and a lot of vinyl. Detroit and Chicago based music came out of the speakers and not soon after he wanted this for himself, dj-ing.

It was a year later when he got his first turntable and mixer and he used his parents pick-up to mix his first records.

He was addicted.

It was not until 1997 when he started to live in Rotterdam that he got some opportunities to get out his living room. With 2 friends he started to do Wednesday evenings in Nighttown-Cafe.

After a while he got offered a residency at a small Bar/Restaurant called E.D.D. which turned into a dancing after the eating was done.

From this point on he was asked to play at different parties and also got another residency at NV Opslag where he played mostly disco music.

It was at the end of 2001 when he was playing a night in E.D.D that the programmer of the Bootleg Dj Cafe asked if he would play in the Cafe and after playing there for almost a month he became a resident for almost 6 years.

The following years he played bigger parties and he had moved up to the point where he headlined with Carl Craig during the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2004 and that he created his own record label called Sonasty Productions.

The idea was to release work of himself and his friends. As it was the first release he wanted it to be something special, a gate fold 2-LP pressed on 160 grams vinyl.

In September 2005 he released SNP001, Sonasty presents Electronic Generation.

He was eager to do more and better and through a friend he was introduced with SAE and this
led to doing a sound engineering course at SAE in 2006.

After completing the course he went on several tours in 2008 doing Front of House(FOH) and sometimes the monitors.

When he came back from his last tour date he started doing his music again and in October 2008, Soulpoint I was a fact. Soon after Soulpoint II was released on the SYNCOM DATA label. Positive reviews about both EP's came soon after.

Because of the fact that both Soulpoint Ep's on SD Records were quote "phenomenal"(Pitchfork Media) he was asked by another label to send his music.

At the end of 2008 together with SD Records,he re-released the 2005 2LP"electronic generation" digitally.

In the Beginning of 2009 he received news that the music he sent was going to be released and that they were interested in more of his work, so he sent more.

At that time he was doing the remix for Nukubus and it came out on Nukubus own VONK label as single sided vinyl.

2 White labels were released during 2009 and also "Time Relapse" appeared on the digital album "Summer Breeze" released by SD Records.
