The Game ain't playin'!

I'm not up on pop music whatsoever. Not because I think I'm too real for radio or nothing, but most of the time I just can't listen. I turn on BET or turn on the radio and the same stuff is constantly on. All I can stands is perhaps 3-4 months out of the year and then I can cancel cable again.

Well, due to this I've slept on The Game. I knew he'd be something when Westside Story was out and he was on Aftermath, but after Dre gave him to 50, I kind of wrote him off. Thought he would just had a few hot singles and the rest of his album would be garbage like Dre did with Xzibit's last couple of albums. I couldn't stand the G-unitish "How we do" single with 50 at first.

Now that all the hooplah has died down I was put on to this by my eldest brother who also isn't into popular music. He said it was damn near classic material…and I would have to agree after hearing it. It's not Doggy Style is all, but it's just about as good as the classic NWA albums. I guessed Dre wanted Compton to be back in a major way. These were really cream of the crop Dre tracks, not throw aways. You can tell these were gonna make the final cut on Detox.

Like my brother was saying, maybe more cats should study the classics and do what Game did, because he came pretty dang near to it. The west is almost back. Snoop and Game don't constitute a movement. There are other west coast guys like Murs and Grip Grand I like, but they don't cover that gansta flavor territory.
