Your "punk" nieces who think Mission of Burma and the Clash suck are of a different generation whose conception of "punk" has been filtered through MTV, Hot Topic, and other facets of consumer culture. To these kids, punk is stuff like Blink-182 that I'd rather stick a dull spoon through my eyeball than listen to. Maybe when they mature a bit they'll appreciate it. Until then, I hope you find comfort in the community of music snobs at last.fm who appreciate stuff you like :)
