À propos de moi

Welcome to my page! My name is Jeremy, and as you can see I like a variety of music, most of which is pop, or rock that comes from the 80s, and 90s. However I listen to other types of music from other eras as well. My listening style is what you might call “old school”, or “AOR” – not as in album oriented rock, but as in all over the road! So if you happen to know of some good music feel free to share it with me. Some of the best music I’ve had the pleasure of listening to came through recommendations from friends that I’ve made over the years.

I joined the lastfm.com website in June of 2011, choosing the moniker "jammer", of which I thought was fitting since my initials spell JAM. And as you can see I listen to a good bit of music on a regular basis through either my computer or Iphone, or at least I think I do – particularly when I’m at work. I find it helps make the time pass whenever working a long shift, or really any shift due to amount of paperwork involved. Perhaps the most time consuming, monotonous part of my job is the inordinate amount of paperwork that I must complete on a regular basis, and having some music to listen to helps make the time fly. (Same goes for whenever I'm doing my workout routines in the gym.) So much so that I think I’d go nuts if I didn’t have any music to listen to, of which I’m sure anyone that has ever worked in security or law enforcement could relate to.

Since joining the lastfm.com website, some of the milestones I’ve reached are shown below starting with the 10,000th song played. Sort of makes me wonder what my library and music stats will look like once I reach the big 100,000th song play count, or heck, even the 1,000,000th song play count if I live long enough to get to that point, haha… One of the things I'm interested in doing is having had sampled a very wide variety of music over the course of my lifetime, having discovered some of the best of the best of the some 18+ million songs that are out there. When I go out, I want to go out in a state of musical nirvana, (a music induced state of complete spiritual happiness)!

Some of my favorite music artists are listed below. Maybe you might recognize some of them, or know of some similar music I should check out…

According to the tag cloud below, much of the music I like to listen, or rather have listened to is pop, and rock from the 80s, among other things, of which I’d say, seems fairly accurate…

However, I was somewhat surprised to see the percentage of music that supposedly like by male vocalists. Historically, I think I’ve preferred to listen to music by female vocalists. Something about the female voice I find be particularly soothing, and relaxing – like that of Celine Dions. I use to listen to a good bit of her and Madonna’s music before signing up at lastfm.com. Although I think I’m probably Celine Dion'ed out at this point, I did find music like that to be quite soothing when I did listen to it, particularly her Christmas songs. I use to enjoy a good bit of Madonna’s music as well, but then again there are some male vocalists that I've liked as well. Perhaps its just music with a certain finesse or refinement to it that I’m drawn to. I've been known to indulge myself on some classical music on a few rare occasions, such as that of the sound tracks to the Showtime Series "The Tudors" or that of "Final Fantasy XIII" for Playstation 3.

Although sort of interesting, I’m not entirely sure that this chart of the years of the music that I like to listen to comes from is accurate as it looks a little bit more spread out than what I had expected. I was thinking it'd reflect most of the music I like as being from the 80s, and 90s rather than a near even spread. Guess I'll just leave it be for the time being. Maybe it's accuracy will improve over time as corrections are made to the meta data tags of some of my songs, and new ones are added...

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to view my profile. Feel free to contact or "friend" me if you think we have anything in common! Maybe I could back up your old CD collection to mp3 format for you so that you listen to your music on whatever device you want to, or something (if you're local).
