Wed 21 Mar – Pelican, Russian Circles, Young Widows
Russian Circles definately stood out with their tight playing and sweet sound. Guitar loops were often used at the start of songs then ditched when the sound opened up. I was amazed at the shoegaze affect used a couple of times>>>fabulous tone and a sound that completely filled the Picador from all angles without being harsh. Very nice. The crowd seemed to like these guys as they were givin enthusiastic praise with very little chit chat during the entire set. Artistic and emotional, it was post metal at its best. Put away those vocal mics.
Pelican suffered from a harsh/bright sound and going for heavy slop versus tight chops. Still a good performance.
