One more nice review :-) And some disagreements in favourite tracks again ;-) For me the best song is Travel, it's breathtaking, absolutely stunning! Nine minutes turn into one moment when I listen to it! Plus deep atmosphere and brilliant Anneke's performance (I wiiiiiish yoooou kneeeew your muusic wants to stay foreeeever! oh, it's unbelievable!). And I have to confess that I don't really like Great Ocean Road because I think it's a copy of Travel. Probably Built In Fifties is also amazing! And yes, I think it'd be better if the album ended with it, it's too emotional, and this strange HTMAP? is absolutely unlistenable after it. (Though listening to it separately from the album can be fun sometimes). Also I really like Red Is A Slow Colour, Liberty Bell and Rescue Me. And we talked already about our agreements about Frail, and The Big Sleep and disagreements about Marooned, South American Ghost Ride and Illuminating :-) Generally this album is exactly their biggest slee... their biggest style changing ever :-) I think that sometimes it sounds a bit.. uncertainly, like they weren't sure what they are doing. Though it's a really great work. One of their strongest albums for me. And I think I got into it pretty fast, it didn't take a long time. Think I had a needed mood when I listened to it at the first time :-)

Thanks both for your replies and compliments! These The Gathering-reviews keep on becoming longer and longer as I want to review every single song, because most of them are very special in their own way. Though it really takes a lot of time to write them like this, so I don't think I will continue reviewing this way for other artists :-) Also for the 2 live albums of The Gathering I still want to review, I'm not planning to make the reviews as expanded as the ones of the studio albums. Also because I have discussed all of the individual songs already in the earlier reviews. @Andrew: what do you think about My Electricity? Never heard your opinion about that song. It's one of my favourites and will probably end up somewhere in my top 10. With Travel I just don't know... I already saw it is no. 2 on your list, so I expected a reaction like that and I can also imagine it (a bit). It is a good song imo and this line you referring to is really great. It's just that the song as a whole is not leaving that impression in my mind that leads to emotion and recognition. Sorry if this sounds weird, I just don't know how to explain it, haha. You are also right about the uncertainty, I can hear that too. I don't think the album will end up high on my list, not because I think it's a bad album, but because I think most of their other albums are better. I'm curious how you would rate them. Any chance you could make a list of them like you did with the Nightwish albums? Release of their new album would be a good reason, although that will take until September I read on their website... a lot longer than I expected :-(

So, there are two reviews left, then ranging (my favourite part, I think :-))), then… another artist! Who is queued next? :-) My Electricity is a good song, just like Locked Away, and I was really glad when Anneke performed them on the concert, but there are lots of songs (even on this single album) which I like more than these two ones :-) I think I understand you, and feel kind of the same to Epica’s Kingdom Of Heaven. Everyone seems to love this song, but I just doesn’t touch me, I don’t feel it at all. Technically it is good as hell, but I can’t get it as a whole… :-) In my chart this album would take 3rd or 4th place (for me it’s hard to choose between it and The West Pole). I have lots of ideas about these lists (like NW), but I’ll start creating them as soon as I pass all my exams… Just don’t want to write them, every single minute saying to myself “you’re a lazy idiot! why are you doing this instead of preparing???” :D I have only one left, so I hope it will happen really soon :-) Yes, I'm also very confused and disappointed about this September thing. I thought they were going to release the album at least during the first half of the year… :-(

Yes, I'm also disappointed, I would have expected it to be somewhere between March and May... but probably they are to busy now with the coming concerts in the NL with old "Always... line-up". I'm really not interested in these concerts. But anyway, we just have to be patient :-) You're right about your exams, it's more wise to finish them first. Did everything go well up to now? Good luck with this last one!!! (Next artist will be Sarah McLachlan again, the last 2 studio albums + 2 live albums + ranking :-) and then... probably Anneke/Agua de Annique or Fiona Apple.)

Yes, we have to be patient... And by delaying the album release, they take responsibility for the album being worth waiting :-) Thanx :-) Actually, everything didn't go so well with the exams, but a week almost without sleep, and all the problems were solved :D Oh, now I remember that you didn't finish with Sarah reviews :-) And my vote is for Anneke/AdA ^_^ at least, I know her and listen to her :-)
