Haha, thanks! It's chairmane Guwop! And I know what you mean; lots of people focus on Gucci's ridiculous and erratic behaviour but forget that he has made some really personal tracks besides all the typical trap bangers. If you like these type of songs by him check out the intro of Trap God and "RIP Slim Dunkin" (off Gucci vs Guwop). / Yeah, I've heard that from several people now. But if you say you still like it, I’m gonna check it out, even if it’s more of the same for now. As long as they haven’t gotten worse, it’s fine by me! / I was really surprised by Drake’s new mixtape. I liked it a lot. The production is damn near flawless (as usual), especially Boi 1da’s tracks, however it’s not quite up to par lyrically. Most of the tracks (despite “You & The 6”, one of the highlights) are braggadocio, then again I like that Drake is becoming more confident. I like cocky Drake a lot more than “soft” Drake lol. If you’re interested, give it a listen, the atmosphere is really cool!

Nope, not yet! What about you, did you like it? I guess there's already a leak online somewhere? I'm really looking forward to hearing their new album but on the other hand this is a release I'll gladly spend money on, so I'm kinda conflicted lol. I'll probably check out the leak though as soon as I've listened to some more albums in my huge backlog.

Have you heard of Made in Heights? They are a dream pop duo similar to Purity Ring. I recently discovered them and really like their music. Unfortunately they have only released one EP so far. Check them out, maybe you like it!

No problem bro! Wong Kar Wai’s movie have some of the most beautiful cinematography I’ve ever seen (e.g. the taxi scene in In The Mood For Love; when you watch it, you’ll know what I mean). It’s like visual poetry! Btw I don’t like “Lemonade” either, but it illustrates the stylistic difference pretty well imo. Tbf though this is probably his most mainstream friendly and therefore most successful single. His more recent mixtapes such as the Trap God series sound completely different, especially the songs produced by Mike Will, 808 Mafia, Drumma Boy or Lex Luger.

Yeah, I agree. I recently watched The Town and while it was an entertaining thriller with cool heists and intense shootouts the romantic subplot was so corny and predictable that it really dragged the rest of the movie down. I don’t know why Ben Affleck felt the need to include it. Speaking of him; have you watched his new movie Gone Girl? Also if you ever feel like watching romantic movies done right, I’d highly recommend Wong Kar Wai’s movies (especially 2046 and In The Mood For Love). They are very emotional without being cheesy since he is great at making you feel the characters’ mutual attraction through subtle gestures and imagery rather than the usual Hollywood bullshit. / Let me show you what I meant with my statement concerning Gucci’s music: compare 2009’s Lemonade to 2013’s Trap House 3’s Intro. Lemonade sounds relatively upbeat whereas TH3 is much slower and darker.

Btw if you want to get into Guwop I’d recommend you check out the Trap God mixtapes (2 & 3 are really good) and his 2013 album The State vs Radric Davis 2 as a start. I’m not too big on his early albums since they sound too much like generic early 2000s Southern Rap imo (but the lyrics are still entertaining as always). Generally speaking his more recent tracks are darker and more serious than his often ridiculous and goofy early stuff.

Yeah, I’m going to do the same thing, pretty much. If everything goes right, I’ll have a job from August onwards. Good luck to you man, fingers crossed! And I didn't even know the Hunger Games movies had a romantic subplot but usually I'm not a fan of romance either; at least not if it's shoehorned in like it's the case with most Hollywood movies. It usually ends up being really corny and unconvincing. / What are your favorite songs off EAS? If you liked that tape you’ll probably like Gucci’s more recent stuff (like from 2011 onwards). The beats from his newer songs are usually more melodic as opposed to his pre 2010 sound. Since you liked the guitar elements, I’m pretty sure you’ll like his newer tracks too, especially those produced by Zaytoven, Mike Will and Drumma Boy.

Sounds great as well, you know, I think sometimes the quiet evenings are the best ones. Did you like the Hunger Games movies? I have never seen them but from my experience people either love them or hate them. And yeah, it's my last semester too, it definitely feels good! What do you want to do after your graduation?

Definitely man, Christmas and New Year's were great! We usually go to house party for New Year's Eve but this year I went to a club with just two other friends which was a nice change of pace. The club is on top of a skyscraper, therefore you have an amazing view over the city. You could see the fireworks shooting into the sky in the distance which was really cool! Otherwise I have been doing the same stuff as you, pretty much. I've also been catching up on some movies I wanted to see. What did you do on New Year's Eve? I hope you had a great start into the new year as well!
