finally got around to checking out citycop, I should have done so earlier cause I really like them! thanks for the rec! should help me through the rest of winter, which is still brutal over here! it was -11 (Fahrenheit!) here the other night!

Well the "polar vortex", as they like to call it over here, remains. I wouldn't call it a blizzard, because it's actually been quite sunny the last few days (!!!) but it's still quite cold. More so than the last decade almost. So yes, it is the perfect weather for emo music! I actually lean more towards listening to Empire! Empire! because I feel it fits more towards the quietness and sadness that winter often brings. But you can never go wrong with Snowing, no doubt! I hope the weather is a bit more cheerful over on your side! What do you prefer to listen to when the weather is shitty?

Having lived in Buffalo my whole life I'm pretty used to the snow It's the wind and cold that get to me, however, so I can't say I enjoy winters as much as I used to. It helps if you enjoy skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling, but I don't do any of those things regularly. If I could I'd probably move to Florida haha. hey even if people freak out you get a snow day right? stuff only shuts down here if theres a blizzard or its below zero degrees. I know down south if theres a dusting of snow on the roads everything shuts down, driving in the snow can be tricky if youre not used to it.

I understand where she's coming from! I'm not a fan of the fast paced lifestyle and general lack of space that living in a big metropolitan area entails. Buffalo is nice cause it's a decent sized city with stuff to do but it isn't packed to the brim with people. But then again we're economically depressed and get snowed in half the year so you take the good with the bad :/ and yes! an emo tour would be sweet! I've always wanted to travel to Florida for FEST, if you've ever heard of it. Happens during Halloween with a shit ton of punk bands, with good weather to boot! Right I've heard of those places but I don't know much about them. How is Leeds compared to London?

I'm from Buffalo! We get a decent amount of bands here, enough to keep me happy. Toronto is only two hours to the north of us, so if there's a band I really want to see they usually stop in Toronto while on tour so I can just make the drive up there, which isn't so bad. I consider myself lucky to be on the east coast, since that's where most emo bands like to tour, so I've seen quite a few of the bands I really like. I am jealous of you though, I have a minimum half hour drive to see any decent shows. What part of the UK are you from?

  • davygrohl

lucky! They were supposed to come to my city a couple months ago but they ended up skipping over it! Oh well :( You see a lot of cool shows, I'm jealous! That TWIABP and E!E! show looks amazing! I saw TWIABP last fall and it was my favorite show of the year, you should be in for a treat.

I honestly haven't heard of any of those bands...throw some songs at me.

I agree. And easily the best album of last year (in my opinion) ....followed by Gaslight's Handwritten of course

  • TheClash57

I think those songs on piano would be amazing and would create an even more melancholy mood. That album is the perfect album to drink too. There are few albums I love as much as On The Impossible Past.

  • TheClash57

Also, have you heard of the demo tape of the Menzingers' last album?

    janvier 2013
  • TheClash57

Yea I knew they were from the UK. They're one of the few UK bands I'm into right now, along with Departures and The Headstart. Not too versed in a lot of current UK bands (although I spent my high school years listening to the UK punk bands from the 70s/80s)

Yea I love TBR. I've seen them 5 times and hung out with them several times. Really cool dudes. You ever listen to Polar Bear Club or Sharks?

    You heard of Teenage Bottlerocket?

    janvier 2013
  • TheClash57

It was a combination of not enough time and stuff just didn't work out. And yea, sometimes the puck slips past my padding and it can hurt a lot but its hockey so its what you expect to happen. And I've always lived in the city. I don't think I'd like living in the country so much.

  • TheClash57

I play goalie. Been playing for the past 10 years but I'm coming to the end of my collegiate career. Only 6 more games :( And I have a pickup truck like any typical American haha. But even being in the city we still need our cars here since everything is much further apart. And used to be in a band called Tear The Place Apart! http://www.last.fm/music/Tear+The+Place+Apart! I played bass in that band but I also play guitar. I'm not in a band currently though right now

Yup. Just started up the new semester yesterday! I'm studying civil engineering and its my last semester (I graduate in May). I'm hardly taking any classes so I only have class on Tuesday and Thursday, so I have plenty of free time on my hand. Probably gonna focus all that free time on hockey/working out for hockey and music (and drinking of course). And yes, I have driven through the mountains. For hockey, we play a bunch of different schools around the Northwest and I've been able to drive through Idaho and Montana and its just amazing. What's the name of the band you are in?

Currently I'm on Christmas break from school, so I'm back in Dallas, which is where I'm from originally from. Dallas is the 4th largest metropolitan area in USA, so its very big. But I live in the suburbs. I go to school in Spokane, WA, which is still a city but nowhere near the size of Dallas (6.5 million people compared to 600,000 haha). Our school is right next to downtown, so were pretty much right in the middle of the city, which I like. I don't like smaller towns as I have lived in big cities my whole life. Spokane is kinda run down though with a struggling economy. And most bands have never heard of it, so they always skip us. However, we have had some great bands come through. 3 years ago NOFX came and they sold out their show, which isn't easy to do in Spokane. And you are very true by saying things here are miles and miles apart. Although with that, comes lots of very pretty sites. I've driven through Montana and Utah and they have some very pretty mountains. Its amazing.

Happy New Year to you too! And yup, NCAA sports are much cheaper than the pros. I get to go to all my school's basketball games for free too because I am a student there. And I typically don't get to go to festivals as they're usually in bigger cities like Chicago that are nowhere near me. But I have been to Warped Tour before. That was a lot of fun, although there are a bunch of shitty bands playing on that nowadays. And a bunch of high school scene kids. Not sure if you got kids like those over there in the UK, but they are annoying. You're lucky if you don't have them haha

I'm a big fan of college basketball. The school I go to (Gonzaga University) has the 10th ranked team in the country right now, so I love watching them. I prefer college basketball to the NBA as its much faster paced and anyone can win. Our school also got voted to have the 3rd best student-fan section in the country...the games are crazy! I also like football, as any other typical American haha. I prefer college football to the NFL but like both. I love playing soccer but I don't watch it that much. I'll watch the World Cup but besides that, I don't follow it that much. I hate baseball haha. And as for punk shows, lots of bands skip the city I go to school in (Spokane, WA) but that HWM tour stops in Seattle, which is about a 4.5 hour drive from me...so I may go over for that one. Sum 41 is also playing Spokane, will be a trip back to when I was 12 haha. It seems like most of the bands I like toured over in Europe in 2012...hopefully they tour back here this year haha

We stayed in Sheperd's Bush...wish is western London I think. But we took the tube to see all the touristy things (Big Ben, London Eye, etc). But we also drank at some bars with some people our age who were from London and that was a blast. The older British people seemed to dislike us Americans but the UK people our age were a blast haha. That city is damn expensive though...especially since the US dollar is weaker than the pound! But I really wanna go back and stay longer. Glad to see you like hockey too...that is by far my favorite sport. I play hockey for my school too :). And I love punk just the same. What are you going to school for?

I like living here. Wouldn't want to move away. Although I was in London for a few days this summer and I really liked it there. And I actually haven't been to too many house shows. But I have been to a ton of good shows. It also depends where in USA you live for getting good shows. Where would you move if you came over here?
