that's right. there were doubters, but here it is. my massive, 3 disc compilation of covers. i said i'd get it done by the end of the year, and i was right. word. i had to delete like 27 tracks to get it down to this size even. er... i didn't want to go overboard?

some of these you'd expect, and others i wager will be a surprise. some of them aren't widely known to be covers... but they are, it's their secret identity. trust me.

this is 200 mb strong, zipped, so i'm thinking this is the kind of collection you'll want to download, and then delete most of the tracks. feel free, i won't know or care. but as always, make sure to enjoy.

Oh no! Not Richard Cheese! The rest don't look too bad though...Smells Like Teen Spirit as a tango should be a laugh.

ah, yeah i have the placebo cover... it gets a lot of playing time in my car between jobs =) as for marek, i've got quite a few other covers. i don't have any of the ones you listed besides the richard cheese (i have a lot of his... like 28. i also have a lot of covers of the smiths (like 18?), quite a few more covers my sun kil moon, red house painters, radiohead, cat power and elliott smith. i also have the whole industrial tribute to metallica album, so there's another 14. and then lots of random ones... i'm a bit too lazy right now to go comile a list, though. if you demand that a list be compiled, i can promise that i'll do so, but i can't give a reliable time frame for it.

Fair enough. I won't pressure you to do so. If you want any of the covers listed that I have, I'll be happy to send them to you. Just PM me if you're interested.

Downloading now, so thought I'd just drop by to say thanks! And give you a few recommendations based on what you've listed: The Posies - I Am The Cosmos (originally Chris Bell) The White Stripes - Jolene (Dolly Parton, I think?) The Decemberists - Bridges and Balloons (Joanna Newsom) Of Montreal - She's My Best Friend (VU) The Shins - We Will Become Silhouettes (Postal Service) Muse - Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You (don't really rate Muse m'self, but hey, if you like that Rising Sun cover...) And probably lots more, but my memory's packing up... I was assuming you had the Tori Amos version of Teen Spirit..? Oh, and This Mortal Coil did some fantastic versions of stuff by Tim Buckley / Chris Bell / Big Star / Byrds / Talking Heads etc. Cheers

yay! i like you. thanks for the recommendations =) i agree that muse can be tricky, but i like how they remind me of radiohead, or at least of thom yorke. i took a detour into some pretty heavy metal during highschool (due to my love of classic rock and metallica, which encouraged me to try out some of the more contemporary harder sounds) so i guess that that probably desensitized me enough that i could enjoy muse in an alt-rock-ish fashion. anyhow, thanks again =)
