Guillemots @ La Maroquinerie, Paris

Mon 19 Feb – Guillemots
First time I'm doing this, so let's try and get it right… I won't review the entire show because it's still a bit fuzzy in my memory and I'm not a goddamn music journalist. But anyway…

*The support for the band was some French chick who, to her credit, tried to warm up the audience but didn't exactly succeed. I reckon we were just too excited about seeing Guillemots that we couldn't bring ourselves to care. It was still lovely to see her try, if not a bit boring.

*Fyfe Dangerfield and his crazy wild haircut greeted us in French, much to the delight of the crowd. He tried to speak in French during the whole show, which was sort of funny and adorable. Most of the time, he ended up cursing in English, though!
*As silly as it might sound, every girl in the audience (me included) swooned everytime he spoke -he was incredibly charismatic. And that voice, naturally… He performed "We're Here" on his own, which was possibly one of the most memorable moments of the evening.

*Aristazabal Hawkes looked smokin' hot (and I'm a girl!)… She was just mesmerizing when she played.

*MC Lord Magrão was every bit as wild as one could have expected, being a guitarist and all. Sounds a bit lame to say so, but the guy rocks!

*Greig Stewart was awesome. He went completely wiiiild at the end of one song (can't remember which one), and it was obviously an impro because you could see the other members smiling and thinking "what the f-?"…

*The final song, which was a solo rendition of "Blue Would Still Be Blue" by Fyfe, was pretty emotional. Or so I thought… At the end, nobody wanted to leave, because they gave us such a great show. It went by too quickly, as usual!

Overall an excellent performance, and loads of great memories from that night. The band definitely did NOT disappoint, and now I'm bound to listen to their album again and again and again…
