    arghoslent is apparently doing a 22-year anniversary show in chicago on 2/25... I am trying to figure out where it is, but it is probably in a white power dive. either way, I will be there. the guitarist is probably the only guitarist that matters.

    thanks! i find once was not to have lots of interesting weird bits that really appeal to me. also, unlike loads of brutal death metal releases that sound really similar all the way through the album, i find it to be really diverse and it's got loads of offer. took me a while to get into it though. worth it! i see you like deathspell omega. classic band! take care =]

    ha we're both listening to parasignosis, I think it's a really good release, same with archaeaeon, something like ulcerate meets portal.

    Very informative information, thanks for answering my questions. Just those 6 tracks will do just fine, I guess I have everything else already on my harddrive. I've been looking for those compilations, or at least some information about them for some time. Seemed kind of wierd to me that they didn't leak directly after they were released, it's Hirilorn after all.

    That would be terrific, I'd appreciate it. Maybe you could upload a .RAR to Mediafire? And I was wondering if the old songs on the compilations have been remastered, re-recorded, or re-anything? There also seem to be new songs on there as well, or is it old material with new titles?

    Many ensembles have interpreted the Carmina Burana (New London Consort, Ensemble Unicorn, Ensemble Organum, Modo Antiquo/Bettina Hoffmann etc etc), each with different approaches to the performance of the various pieces, so it really depends on what your personal preference is. Do you like loud, upbeat percussion heavy performances or quieter, more melancholic pieces? If you prefer the former I'd recommend the Mondo Antiquo, if the latter is more your thing, New London Consort would be a good place to start. In terms of other musicians who have popularised 'early music', I'd strongly advise you to listen to David Munrow and the Early Music Consort of London. That guy was incredible. Look him up on YouTube. Lastly, if you like purely vocal music (e.g. medieval and renaissance chants), the Hilliard Ensemble and Ensemble Organum are easily the best. See the review I wrote in my journal about Ensemble Organum's release Chant de L'Eglise de Rome. That album is stunning.

    Really? I mentioned the Clemencic Consort in the DsO shoutbox? My memory must really be going... I have no recollection of that at all. Are you sure I didn't bring them up in relation to Hammemit? That's how I found out about Clemencic Consort in the first place. Anyway, not to worry, the main thing is that you're somewhat familiar with them. Great to hear you got hold of one of their releases as well! I mainly listen to this . It features some of my favourite interpretations of medieval music. If you're not familiar with the Carmina Burana (the original version that, not the releases by Carl Orff), I'd strongly recommend that you look into that. There's a lot of variation so I'm sure you'd find something you like.
