Concert reports part 4: Plastic Tree, Counter Culture, B'z

Because I went to a ton of lives since I came to Japan, and wrote (short) reports for some of them, here's part 4!

2010.02.07 Plastic Tree
I really really enjoyed the concert. I mean, to be honest I just don't like their last album Donna Donna. It won't grow on me and all the songs are just… net niet. Thankfully they played more songs from their old albums than from Donna Donna and frankly the audience was much more enthusiastic during older songs. Overall it was a really good live and especially the encore was pure win.

2010.02.11 COUNTER CULTURE
The event was totally awesome! Heidi. started and they were fun as usual. They also played a new song, which I really liked. It was nice and upbeat, and everyone enjoyed it from the start even though it was the first time we heard it.

After heidi. came lynch. They were just like I expected from them: kick-ass. Sadly the sound was a bit too loud but the audience was really enthusiastic either way. Lots of headbanging. I liked their setlist, although I missed the good old songs like I'm sick, bcuz luv u. Also the first song they played maybe wasn't the best opener…

Last was Sadie. They were really nice to see again. Played a lot of fun songs, not as many headbang-songs as I expected but it was fun either way. As an encore, the vocalists of the other two bands came on stage and together with Sadie they performed my favourite song by Sadie, Meisai. Pretty cool to hear the other two vocalists sing along. I was curious how Yoshihiko from heidi. would do but he did pretty damn well. Great ending to a great night!

I have to say… this was the best show right behind all L'Arc shows I went to. It was sooooo good. Our places were quite nice and we could see everything well (the poor short people behind us couldn't, but everyone was super friendly and even though they were hardcore fans they didn't mind us being so tall). They played a lot of awesome songs, opened with Dive which we already expected. Most other songs were from the new album Magic, but there were some older songs as well.

They had a lot of awesome effects as well, like fire, fireworks, sparkles and huge "bomb" balloons that were thrown into the audience and "exploded" into millions of little heart shaped balloons at random moments. During the song "Freedom Train" the side stages moved up and showed us two freedom trains LOL. And halfway the song だれにも言えねぇ (transl. "Can't tell anyone"), a "だれにも言えねぇ wishing well" came on stage that Inaba started telling stuff to (a camera was hidden inside so obviously we heard and saw everything). Pretty random and amusing.

During "Mayday!" part of the stage started moving and moved the band to the back of the dome. Now, honestly, I only rarely believe fans when they say "zomg xxx looked at me! They saw me!" but when the stage was moving right past us, the bassist pointed specifically at us (and everyone around us was like "omg that was for YOU"). The Fukuoka dome is the largest hall I've ever been to, and the largest concert I've ever been to, yet now we were noticed and by the foreigner bassist at that. I lol'd (at least until the women next to us said I looked like the bassist D: ) .

B'z was so awesome I actually bought a ticket for March 3rd in Tokyo one day later!
