The All- American Rejects- I miss the way they were 6 years ago. Tyson has gotten ridiculously unattractive, but the band does perform well together and they have perfected the performance of the "CD sound".

I hadn't been to a show at the Door in the big room in a while. Maybe in almost a year? I still miss it being the Gypsy Ballroom, but whatever.

It was a pretty full show, lots of goofy scene kids who messed with their hair for most of the site. There was some crazy bitch girl who thought she was a bad ass and tried to mess everyone up. What a winner… 17 year olds…

Sat 8 Aug – Free Press Summer Fest

So many pros, so many cons.

Pros:

Great bands, great location, great price, great people

I was able to see so many bands over the weekend all for $20. My highlights were Broken Social Scene, bits of Explosions in the Sky, The Eastern Sea, Wild Moccasins, and Voxtrot. The sound for all the bands was great.

Eleanor Tinsely is a great park and the large slope was great for perching on and watching the bands on Stage 1. It was a little toooo slopey though and I felt very unstable!!

Cons:

Tue 14 Jul – dredg, Rx Bandits, Good Old War

Well thank you Granada Theatre for having functioning A/C this time, I appreciate it.

I came to this show to see Good Old War as they are currently one of my favorite bands. Unfortunately they only played 30 minutes as RX and dredg were co-headlining… But the set they played was great. The sound was true to their album and they were full of energy despite the crowd's less than enthusiastic reception. I'll admit they were an interesting addition to the line up!

I'll start with Hello Lover. An awkward, yet talented and original band filled with old guys, all of whom were very interesting to watch.

Trippiest show ever? Check.
Most entertaining show ever? Not check.

I'll start with Black Dice. What the hell was that? I seriously was confused when I arrived. This band had its moments of jam/groove/interesting time, but the majority of it lacked…something. I am not a person to say "OMG this just sounds like noise!" but OMG that just sounded like noise! I can't even compliment them on their projection screen- nothing special here.
