Hi there! Great to see you here! I can't adequately express my love for the 60's nouvelle vague visual essay you have here. The entire period, the ye-yes, everything: it's one of my many obsessions. Oh, les emberthements! :D

Blue Roses album is ace, wish she'd hurry up and bring out another record. Have heard a few new songs at gigs and they sound pretty good. Have been meaning to check out Hannah Peel for a while - missed her supporting Caitilin Rose last year and again this year at Oporto.

I didn't hang around for it either - rushed home to attend to poorly missus only to find mother-in-law there... sigh. PS Good of you to highlight the Traffic song and not the Cast one that had popped up before it... ;-) I think it was one of your song swaps by the way.

yes it's very tough financially hence working as an art technician to pay some of the bills. there is stuff going on in Bournemouth and enough talent around to make interesting things bubble to the surface, though it's an uphill struggle. The audience for the arts is limited, I feel, in dorset. Still one must suffer for ones art eh?

good glad it's going well. look forward to january then, and here's to something good coming along for you next.

Well louche. Thank you. It'll be the perfect soundtrack to getting my balls waxed. And yes, as ever, we should sort something. Third Angel show opens on 13th at Crucible, runs for three weeks. If you can't make an evening, I could pop to Leeds any day in the run for lunch. No matinees, you see x

Ah, yes, I saw it Friday! Had a big smile on my face all the way through... Sometimes it was a music video, sometimes an art film, sometimes even strayed into an actual documentary! Fantastic! Funny, sweet and surreal and I loved it to bits. It was actually better than I thought it would be... Where did you see it? Was there a Q&A with Gruff?

yes Black Black are lovely, though don't know too much about them. that track is actually an Ace Of Base cover (!!!!!!!) but just great. because of my PC leaning I use Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ a fairly versatile freeware but still lots of fiddling around (well that's the best part). also just found Mixcloud http://www.mixcloud.com/lustrouschemistry/ if you are looking for an outlet for your mixes.

  • LustrousChemist

just in case you might be slightly interested, I have a collection of tracks up at the rather lovely The Mixtape Club which you can listen to here http://www.themixtapeclub.org/012/mixtapes.php?x=lustrouschemistry. if not please excuse my spam.

Never been a fan. But they seem to have decided that tonight, Mathew, they are going to be the Fleet Foxes on this one. I've succumbed. Love that new Broken Social scene album.

  • LustrousChemist

it is much better on the other side. I remember being unbearable for pretty much the whole year in the lead up to 40. it does get better ;)

    cool charts . :)

    juillet 2010
  • LustrousChemist

maybe it's a "return" or perhaps after forty you can give up the pretence that you ever left your teenage years? the best side effect of being *ahem* over the hill, is that I now don't give a shit about things I don't give a shit about. it's a liberating experience.

    juillet 2010
  • LustrousChemist

yes do it! get your stuff out there, 40(ish) is the new 12 you know . might be still worth emailing mix tape club with prospective mixes. I've just wrangled another one for later this year...... would have loved to have seen The Research in their prime the album showed such promise. wonder what did it? bad management? depression? or just the spectre of Wakefield?

    juillet 2010
  • LustrousChemist

..oh and what's your BlipFM dj name?

    juillet 2010
  • LustrousChemist

ha! not quite a demi-god I'm not really a musician, it's mainly samples, loops and aforementioned mixes. no you can rest assured I am definitely more audience than performer. re : the mix tape club, I emailed the address listed on the website. I think it helps if you have examples up on a creative website. blipFM is good but I'm a bit lazy with it. I think it works best if you use it regularly (à la twitter) you can get all these badges and stuff when you meet targets but I'm too lax, though any site where you can stumble across new music is fine by me. nice to chat with you blossomtoe where can one hear your mixes? RIP The Research
