Howdy John (and regrets about the delayed reply)! Many years ago I bought the Complete Dexter Gordon on Blue Note box set, and every minute is peerless, classic early-60s hard bop. My favorite tunes would be included on his first BN release "Doin' Allright" (with trumpet by Freddie Hubbard), and you can't go wrong with the popular BN "Go" recording. I'm less familiar with his 40's and late-60s/70s output, however another CD to track down is tenor Booker Ervin's "Setting The Pace", on which Booker and Dexter battle on two epic 20-min jams ...
