I share your feelings about the Magnetic Fields. Realism is supposed to be their "folk album," and is also kind of hit or miss IMO. The style is very different. Some of the songs off it are great though.

I wish I could go to the ATP/Pitchfork festival, but I'll be in Sweden on a study abroad. As for Slint, I'm just starting to get in to them, and it takes a lot of patience.
