  • Agent Orange @ The Blind Pig

    24 oct. 2007, 0h32m

Checked out Agent Orange at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. Didn't see it listed in the event for the band. I tried to add it but Last.fm with have nothing of it.

This may very well be on of the last shows I see in Michigan before I leave for California. Seems fitting it was AO.

    It was a fun show.
  • "Hey Look at that, I've puked! Shut the fuck up!"

I was invited to check out Scott H. Biram last night. It was a late show for a Thursday (12am) in Detroit's Cork Town. I've only heard one track from him "Been Down too Long" before, so I didn't know what to expect.

The Black Diamond Heavies opened up the show, sounding like a dirty white trash version of Dr. John. A two piece band that consisted of a Rhodes piano and a small drum kit. I was really impressed, these guys put on a hell off a show. If I wasn't so broke, I would have picked up their album on the spot. That's something I don't do too often.

Scott came on the stage at around 12:20. He has some cleaver banter with the crowd and belted a number of blues / country tunes with ease. Everything was great, until the booze kicked in.

About 20 minutes later he was trashed (or at least I assume so), the banter turned into screaming at the crowed to "Shut the fuck up, I've got the mic here!", and then hitting people in the front of the stage with the microphone. I believe I also caught him turn and vomit behind his amp after this, I'm not too sure.

By this point he was trying to play covers of Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused", sounding like a first year guitar student. This time after completing his fifteen minute cover and vomiting again, this time there was no doubt about it. He turned to the crowd, laughed and said, "Look at that, I just vomited!"

Things just got worse from there.
  • ...after handing the girl working the door my ticket, she passed me a bag of shrooms…

There's only one word that can appropriately describe the Acid Mothers Temple show.

    Amazing!

Two hours of mind bending music and noise. The show ended the guitars hanging from the rafters of the stage squealing with feedback.

I counted no less than three brave fans who ventured to the front the stage, only to have defecated themselves from the raw power emitted from the stage.

  • Time for a change

    2 mai 2007, 22h03m

For about a year now, my iTunes has been crammed full of music. A lot of the music, I like but don't listen to much. I'm starting to wonder why I leave it on the PC to eat up all the extra drive space.

I find myself getting back into the whole shoegaze style again. I've had a number of albums from LaLa shipped to me from in the last month. Some I've added, some I haven't yet.

It's will be interesting to see how this has an effect on my monthly charts.

Here's a list of what I've picked up in the last month...

    Doppelganger
    21 Singles
    The Future
    Druganaut
    Ferment
    Incesticide
    Lucky Thirteen
    Heaven or Las Vegas
    Transformer
    Souvlaki

It's almost summertime, time for a change.
  • Hank III

    6 oct. 2006, 0h07m

I saw Hank III at the Machine Shop in Flint, MI. The Rockabilly set was about an hour long and sounded pretty good. Their Hellabilly set was loud, really loud. It took a full 24 hours to get all my hearing back to normal.

It was also nice to see a mixed crowd there. Everything from hillbilly, to punk having a good time.Hank III
