Hello old friend!! How goes?? I hope all is well, it's been eons since we connected. What's new and good? In the case you aren't familiar, here's a couple rec's to get the blood flowing: new Bird Eater, latest Dangers EP, new Every Time I Die is good too. For a bit more varied listen try The Ongoing Concept or Helms Alee. So far 2014 has been quite a slow year for music IMO. Cheers man, talk soon!

You know whats funny is I have a sampler record from Basick that I downloaded from their site, I love all those bands but whenever I search my local music shops I can never find them! It is frustrating, I especially want a copy of Aliases album and The Arusha Accords stuff but its not easily accessible :/

heyhey.. oh well I'm trying to focus on my exam in theoretical physics next week, but I'm making little progress :/ well I remember to have read somewhere that they were going to write some new material during the summer but haven't heard any news so far besides Karl's solo release...

Yip Animals as Leaders is pretty awesome stuff, they'll tour Germany with BTBAM in autumn, looking forward to it :) Haven't heard of liquorworks or of whispers before, I'll give them a listen :) Well, concerning djent I'd recommend Xerath (think of Meshuggah with Dimmu Borgir like orchestral/keyboard parts) and the new Born of Osiris record (comes with a nice amount of death metal in it ;)). Furthermore you might want to give the latest Protest The Hero and The Human Abstract albums a listen (no djent, but cool prog metalcore).. oh and come to think of it, have you ever heard of "la dispute"? discovered them only a few weeks ago, post-hardcore with a vibe of good old-school-screamo, and I've been listening to their 2008 record over and over again lately :) so have fun with those ;)

I don't think that being a native english speaker is a setback or smth, you'll do fine ;) Well, I'm not sure when I'm done studying, but I guess it'll still take around 4 semesters and it's still physics + history to become a teacher ;o speaking of djent, got any recommendations?

Moving to Germany? wow, that's kinda huge step. So I guess you liked it here? (or at least liked it more than in the UK ;) Anyway, thoughts on the new Architects output: First impression: meh, where has the math gone ('stay young forever' kept aside), so been a bit disappointed at first... BUT after a few listens it really grew on me. Sure it's not as technical as previous stuff, yet it's catchy and has a nice flow, I really like it by now ;) I can see why people might not like it though. Oh well, since you seem to listen to a lot of Periphery lately I suggest you give Tesseract a few listens as well. Really awesome Progressive Metal / Djent band from the UK, kinda similar to Periphery, yet even way better in my opinion

Hey Jack, haven't heard from you in ages ;o How are you doing? Well, university started again last week, so things are a bit hectic. But, due to Easter I'm currently enjoying a 5-day-weekend. Awesome! :D So if I remember correctly you were about to come to Germany a while back, don't know what became of that, I hadn't heard from you since :(

Hey friend, its been quite some time! I hope all is well, not too much worthwhile new tunage to report....The latest heavy stuff I've been digging (that's not really that new anymore!): Converge - Axe to Fall, Deftones - Diamond Eyes, DEP - Option Paralysis, BtB&Me - The Great Misdirect (of course), Mouth of The Architect - The Violence Beneath (their cover of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" is pretty effin rad I must say)....Feeling a bit more chill, DEFINITELY check out City and Colour - Bring Me Your Love (AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING), Citizen Cope's albums, Fleet Foxes (I think they have a new one out soon...), also I am digging Broken Social Scene's newest (Forgiveness Rock Record) and as ill-reviewed as it was, Minus the Bear - OMNI. About it for me lately man, it seems I have less and less time these days to explore all the goodness that's out there! Please pass me any and all albums you're digging these days...Cheers!

whats up whats up! Shit long time man. Stoked you've been getting into Between the Buried and Me. Seriously man, my FAVORITE band right now! Colors and Great Misdirect are simply stunning albums. Check out their webpage--they come your way next month I think! Their musical abilities are un-fucking-real--the making of dvd with The Great Misdirect is rad. Ok enough band-worship, whats good with you man?

À propos de moi

So, my name's Jack.

I've not done anything with for ages so I'm currently trying to re-kindle my affections for it.

I'm a metal-head at heart, but I love to listen to anything that makes me happy, I'll give anything a go; soul, drum & bass, rap, jazz, folk, try me!

If you think you've got any good reccomendations, please let me know! I'm always happy to find new music, and I need to get more involved with again.

Und falls du zufaellig Deutscher bist, meld dich! Ich kann Deutsch, und ich wuerd's gern ueben :)
