Uncharted - - January 25th - 28th + 31st 2009

This series, called Uncharted, is basically a listing of my Non-MP3 listening habits (and there fore uncharted by Last FM). For more info, read the beginning of this post here.

*NOTE* As much as I would love to, there is no possible way for me to keep track of other online listening uncharted by Last.FM (YouTube, MySpace and the like). I'd go insane trying.

It's been a while since I've added an new installment of Uncharted. I'll bet the crickets thought I didn't last in my project! (I say crickets because I'm sure I'm the only one to have even looked at these entries. :oP)

I've got LOTS to catch up on, so here it goes the first of a few new entries.

Uncharted

'Week' 3 - January 25th - 28th +31st, 2009

January 25th

12:31 PM : Saraya - When The Blackbird Sings...

01:30 PM : U2 - Boy

02:14 PM : U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
*Note* I find it odd that the 'normal' version of this album on Last FM includes "Fast Cars" as the last song, which is the bonus track on my collector's edition (which came with a DVD and book in a nifty package). The 'normal' edition my Mother has (Yes. I said my mother.) is 11 tracks, ending with Yaweh. Once again, Last.FM's info is wrong. *sighs*

03:25 PM : Enigma - The Screen Behind The Mirror

04:11 PM : Seal - Seal II

10:44 PM : Portishead - Dummy (North American Version)
*Note* Funny how it's the North American Version that's listed as the 'main' edition of this album here on Last FM.

11:34 PM : Portishead - Portishead

January 26th

12:27 AM : Portishead - Third

11:33 AM Seal - Seal II

12:31 PM : Alison Moyet - Essex

01:24-ish PM : Tori Amos - From The Choirgirl Hotel

02:44-ish PM : Splashdown - "Ironspy"

January 27th

11:37 AM : Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway (skipping tracks 5, 8 & 10)
*Note* I'm not a major KC fan or anything, but this is really irritating. Again, Last FM doesn't distinguish well between different versions of a single album. The version I peruse is 12 tracks long, ending with Beautiful Disaster (live). The 'main' version listed has 14 tracks (including 2 bonus previously released tracks). The cover for the one I have isn't even the same!

12:16 PM : Björk - Vespertine

01:32 PM : Tori Amos - Scarlet's Walk

04:16 PM : Tori Amos - "Hungarian Wedding Song"

05:30 PM : Radiohead - Kid A

06:25 PM : Radiohead - Amnesiac (tracks 1-7, stopped at track 8)

January 28th

11:34-ish AM : Radiohead - Amnesiac (Resume play - tracks 8-11)

11:53 AM : Rilo Kiley - Under The Blacklight

12:33 PM : Saint Etienne - Smash The System: Singles and More (disc 1)
*Note* Oh, how I love rotten capitalization. *rolls eyes*

01:57 PM : Saint Etienne - "Like A Motorway"
02:01 PM : Saint Etienne - "Goodnight Jack"
02:07-ish PM : Saint Etienne - "52 Pilot"

02:13 PM : U2 - October

02:55 PM : U2 - Boy

03:40 PM : U2 - The Unforgettable Fire

January 31st

08:27 PM : Tori Amos - To Venus And Back (disc 1: Orbiting)

*Note* Back story for the following album: A few months back, I was in a thrift store and came across INXS - Welcome To Wherever You Are in the hard to find Eco Pak. Now, I'm not what you'd call a 'fan' of INXS. I like some songs, but I had never ventured into album territory with them. Since this Eco Pak was in really good condition and quite cheap, I snagged it. If I didn't like it, I could always sell it on eBay, right?

09:37 PM : I attempt to listen to INXS - Welcome To Wherever You Are but only manage 3 songs (tracks 1, 5 & 10). Lame album. Very.

This period marked my first ever listen to Portishead's Third album, which I quite enjoyed. For me, it's one of those albums I need to be in a specific mood to hear. I don't see myself playing it as much as Dummy or Portishead (which is my favorite of the three), but it is a great album.

This period also marked the beginning of some further exploration into U2's October and The Unforgettable Fire albums. I didn't care for these albums much, but I decided to take a closer listen to them. I'm finding I like them more with each play.

Until the next installment…
