01. Which song do you prefer, #1 or #40?
#1, hands down. I don't think that many songs I've heard could beat it.

02. Have you ever listened to #12 continuously on repeat?
No, but it's not a bad album.

03. What album is #26 from?
69 Love Songs, Vol. 1

04. What do you think about the artist who did #15?
I think that Smith isn't a bad songwriter, but that the indie-hype (especially posthumous) has made him to be more than he really is. Now I wait to be indie-crucified.

05. Is #19 one of your favorite songs?
No, not at all. Make Believe was an absolutely horrid album.

06. Who does #38 remind you of?
I suppose that she reminds me of Fiona Apple and, to a lesser extent, Regina Spektor.

07. Does #20 have better lyrics or music?
Wow... not sure how to answer this... I think that anyone who has heard this song would agree that both the mucic and the lyrics are terrible, but that the song itself is awesome.

08. Do any of your friends like #3?
Of course. A hell of a lot more than I do.

09. Is #33 from a movie soundtrack?
I'm sure it's been in a movie soundtrack. Or a hundred.

10. Is #18 overplayed on the radio?
No, but it's a good song.

11. What does #21 remind you of?
Not sure. The mix is pretty epic, though. Like an uprising.

12. Which song do you prefer, #5 or #22?
Once again, the former. Oberst is nigh untouchable. And Lenny Kravitz is nothing special.

13. What album is #17 from?
I've got it on Louder Than Bombs.

14. When did you first hear #39?
When I got the album, which I got for three bucks at a how-are-they-still-open music store.

15. When did you first hear #7?
I first remember hearing it when I went on a Stevens binge, but I probably head it first when I was very young, as I'm not a 1st-generation listener.

16. What genre is #8?
Islands is tough to peg in the first place, let alone that track. I hate genres.

17. Do any of your friends like #14?
Some of my friends like The White Stripes, but I'm not sure about that song. I know I do, though.

18. What color does #4 remind you of?
No color, really. What's the color of straight up rock?

19. Have you ever blasted #11 on your stereo?
Not much of a stereo-blasting song.

20. What genre is #37?

21. Can you play #13 on any instrument?
Maybe the A Capella part. That is to say, I could play it with my mouth.

22. What is your favorite lyric from #30?
It's a sample, so it's not original, but, "I thought I heard the shuffle of angels' feet."

23. What is your favorite lyric from #23?
Not too keen on Jack Johnson or his lyrics, but mostly I just don't want to listen to it again.

24. Would you recommend #24 to your friends?
Sure, for a fun album. Not particularly for depth or quality, though.

25. Is #2 a good song to dance to?
No. Not at all.

26. Have you ever heard #16 on the radio?
Nope. Likely never will, either.

27. Is #32 more of a "nighttime" or "daytime" song?

28. Does #36 have any special meaning to you?

29. Do any of your friends like #31?
An inter-friend, yes. None of my close buddies, though. It's hard to find people with good taste.

30. Is #25 a fast or slow song?

31. Is #35 a happy or sad song?
Neither. What kind of question is that?

32. What is one of your favorite lyrics from #9?
"Living is a gamble baby, loving's much the same. Wherever I have played, wherever I've thrown those dice, wherever I have played the blues run the game."

33. Is #34 better to listen to alone or with friends?
Alone. The album as a whole is probably better to listen to with friends, however.

34. When did you first hear #27?
When I got the album.

35. Name 3 other songs by the artist who did #29:
Mr. Tambourine Man, Simple Twist of Fate, Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.

36. Do you know all the words to #6?
Indeed I do. First Spektor song I heard.

37. Does #28 have better lyrics or music?
Probably music.

38. What album is #10 from?
Surfer Rosa.

I totally do not understand this meme (where does the song list come from?), but will steal it anyway.

Put your music player on repeat and record the next forty songs. Such fun.
