New Music Tuesday

Wow, I haven't had an overflow of new music on a Tuesday in a long time. Usually it will be broken up through the various leaks and whatnot, or broken up over the course of the week. NOT THIS TIME! Here we go:

1. Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare - The Monkeys are back after their much hyped debut album. Listened to it a bit of skepticism, and it really didn't surprise me much. Solid album, not as spectacular as the debut, and more plain sounding.

2. Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet - Haven't given this one a listen yet but am looking forward to it. If it's anything like In Absentia I doubt it will disappoint.

3. The Nightwatchman - One Man Revolution - Tom Morello's solo venture is totally unplugged and totally Bob Dylan. Reminiscent of the protest songs of American protest rock in the 60s and 70s, Morello does what he does best on this album: Lash out against the government, mainly Georgie Boy up in the White House. The best track is the title track, and even that is not that special.

4. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81 - Although not yet released (May 1st, 2007 feels so damn far away) the album is fully available on the band's Myspace (God bless you, Tom). Out of the four albums in this blog, probably the one I was most anxious for, and it doesn't disappoint. Not even for a second.

You know, I didn't think it was all that great. The songs were too long, and it could have been better. Good, but not the best.
