hm my initial suggestion was some continuation/story telling in the drawings but that might scare many people off and result in a failure. i guess it should be kept to the most democratic level possible. i'l get back with (hopefully) more ideas

secretly hoping for pygmalion in its entirety x_x also that drawing challenge thread needs to happen! and i'm not saying you should be solely responsible

yeah the people on the stairs looked slightly embarrassed? and the concierge kicked everyone out as i understand? i really love how the way 'the road' is filmed makes it look like that staircase is haunted by her. now really hyped up for the show

i absolutely <3 spooky soundtracks. i think the little thing/love detective transition works so well, melodically. the first 4 songs are really groovy and then the transcendence of material life/spookiness sets in. also i think that this kinda theme can not do without this song imo

aw thanks the track list for spooky soundtracks already looks fantastic. i'll listen to it first and then catch up with the peruvian playlist, did it have the same theme??

so im rewatching Certified Copy and yea, the gender dichotomy is still there and still jarring. also: the mother-son relationship, even within a different culture, remains the same: the son seems to feel outside the petty realm of emotions and analyzing his mother while being an annoying little fuck. that resembles the little boy's in 10 performance: again, incredible how a non professional is chosen for the role but the role he's so natural in has been informed by treating women in his personal life that way : S nonetheless, to me it looks like kiarostami has some very misguided but heartfelt solidarity with his actresses. hey also i've bought yet another marias book because i came across it at a secondhand bookstore heaven and how could i say no (all souls). ok whoa i also will give you a proper reply re:petersburg, i'm glad you're enjoying all that is solid melts into air, have you read the opening part btw?

your absence is always too obvious on the board hehe. from the way you describe it, queen margot is pretty intriguing although costume dramas are very hit or miss to me. certified copy <333 i remember frowning at the woman-man rivalry that figures in the film a lot but looking back it is a gorgeous film. the only other thing i've seen by him is 10 which left me in total awe/heartbroken/ in love all at the same time

another thing that interested me is the contrast of the type of space a person can tolerate: for ableukhov sr, the idea of vast countryside is unbearable and he confines himself to his office or home, rushing to the carriage when he needs to be transported between the two. it is even mention without obscuring the medical term that he has agoraphobia. the vastest space he encounters is the nevski prospect, and even that is barely possible to tolerate with the non stopping stream of the commoners passing by;whereas the Fugitive is immune to those vast spaces the dignified officials are so afraid of, he's been imprisoned in Siberia and feels at home with ice and wind

yea theres something ultimately tragic about their relationship. some half baked thoughts: i really love the way each father/son encounter is related in parallel perspective of each character and how they perceive the other. nikolai's often 'familiar embarrassment' at the sight of his father and the latter's disappointment at the son's dishevelled nature while both are trying to communicate and conceal something at the same time!

haha yes it has decreased by a mm recently. ok so the stereotypes will stay there and admittedly are the least interesting thing to discuss. i really dig the translation, pretty early in the novel i love the description of likhutin's daily routine "he left the house early in the morning-greeted equally meekly both the guests and the guests so to speak, with equal meekness he told a whiffy for decency's sake, or he modestly nodded at the words 'revolution-evolution'" like he's removed as an agent from it completely and carries out this sequence of actions with total detachment. sometimes i picture the dialogues in my head as some overdramatic anime : x '*nikolai sweats profusely*. im in chapter 5, maybe it's to come but one expectation that has not been met is nikolai's personal philosophical manifesto, although he seems to not be too fervently aligned with the cause. also really interested in the newly introduced appearance of the double security agent-terrorist.

idk why compatibility skyrockets now when i haven't scrobbled much in almost months ?! my french novel knowledge is v limited but 'the affair becomes less exciting as time wears on' ; 'time wears on' sounds familiar... yeah the route he takes with sofia petrovna's character is not a new one, either a comical figure or a glorified whore-martyr (dostoevsky's kind of girl). another thing that i've noticed in good portion of russian literature of this certain era, esp in dostoevsky, is picking a person from the empire's periphery as the biggest scum out there. like there's the antagonist, but those always have a value system, but a ukrainian/latvian/polish guy is always this filthy godless bastard who will do the most dog like things and be proud of it (lipachenko in this case)

À propos de moi

i got one lyric pointed at your heart for a start
and another one pointed at your weak ass heart

my attack is purely mental and its nature's not hate
it's meant to wake ya up out of ya brainwashed state

but have it your way, raw no foreplay
that's you if you want a dude who wear a mask all day

i'm the one-man army, Ason
i've never been tooken out, I keep MC's lookin out

my momma did her part
but it ain't her fault that I was born with out a heart
in other words I'm heartless dude
i don't love me, how the fuck I'mma love you?

now, what kind of life is that for a fucking child?
