So..if you ask me why there's no Nas - it's because I haven't heard Untitled and I don't think to do it.There's no Atmosphere,Vast Aire or Vordul Mega cause I'm not a fan of that kind of Hip Hop.I won't add The Foreign Exchange - Leave It All Behind cause I don't think that this is a Hip Hop album(but is actually still very good). The order of the top 10 could be different, they're all great. When I'm rating the albums I'm not listening only to the lyrics and beats but estimating which artist has its own original sound cause there are like 20 albums with the nearly the same production this year.
And I won't add Notorious B.I.G. - Ready To Die(The O.G. Edition) cause it's just not album from this year. Otherwise it should be #1.Same thing with Freddie Foxxx - Crazy Like a Foxxx.By the same reason may be I shouldn't add Siah & Yeshua DapoED and Jean Grae(cause Jeanius is recorded in 2004) but I added them anyway..

So, watcha think?

There's still a couple of months to go, and a few more albums coming out (like the new Jedi Mind, for example). Haven't heard more than a half of the albums you've listed, I usually get into "new" stuff at the end of the year. I haven't put a list of all the albums that came out this year, but you're missing the Muggs vs. Planet Asia joint, that is probably a top10 material. And check out Dela, I bet your list is gonna change once you do. AND, you know I'm not gona write a post here without mentioning you putting DIRT at 34. I'll give you a week to rethink that :)

cool list, but i (in my opinion) would put the formula by wonder & buckshot a bit higher : ) and the immortal tech lower, cause i didnt liked it much.

    21 oct. 2008, 17h19m
  • TheAbbott

The Formula was dope buuut...Buckshot is just not on his level on that one.In more than a half of the songs I found the lyrics pretty simple. That's why it's 18.But 9th Wonder instrumentals kill!

    23 oct. 2008, 20h29m

  • zachspence

i dig the list. common market i can't get enough of. you're not a fan of Cyne or LoDeck & Omega One?

    24 oct. 2008, 22h47m
  • TheAbbott

No idea who the last two dudes are.Cyne have album in 08?

    25 oct. 2008, 9h25m
  • S-Kayos

Try Nappy Roots - The Humdinger. That's the only one I'd add. Can't see why you won't give Nas a chance, though.

Q-Tip, Dela and The Roots are my picks. Honourable mention goes to Kidz In The Hall, dope record also.

    30 oct. 2008, 3h06m

WOW U-N-I NEEDS TO BE ON THIS LIST.... one of the best albums of the year in my opinion... the song Beautiful Day CANNOT be topped. MAD good.

  • TheAbbott

*and Black Milk, I alredy got em but need more time to hear them min 2-3 times. Btw why nobody says nothing about Pro Tools? The albums you listed as your favourites are dope, yes, but for me Pro Tools is undoubtedly the best thing this year.No one can even touch the lyrical level of GZA.And this time RZA has done his thing!Gotta say that that's the best Wu production(from the nine members) since...a lot of time!

  • Melach1

damn you've listened to a lot... but what is wrong with the new atmosphere? pretty good album if you ask me

    4 nov. 2008, 19h37m
  • TheAbbott

    Overall not a fan Atmopshere's style. ;)

    5 nov. 2008, 7h59m
  • Melach1

i know what u mean but the new album has a really solid production to it and a less hysterical vibe. It is pretty goed, you should try it

    5 nov. 2008, 17h55m
  • GMan007

Do u buy these albums or just listen from somewhere to a few tracks.....I only buy what I like but how many listens b4 u decide whats not for u....

  • TheAbbott

Half of these albums would cost as much as half of my family salaries. ;) I download THE WHOLE albums. In Bulgaria you can't find in the stores rap albums except The Carter 3, Rising Down and Untitled(which cost much much more than the older albums). The only way is to buy from the net which is +15-20$ supply. When I was in London I saw the prices there and calculated that is something like 3-4 times cheaper to buy music. Get it now? I listen to every album min. two times. And have listened to every album of the top 35 more than 4 times. Satisfied now?

  • Comrade_J

I'm a little upset Snowgoons - Black Snow isn't ranked higher, it has about 15 out of 21 tracks are pretty good and about 20 different underground rappers on it

    14 nov. 2008, 21h30m
  • TheAbbott

The fact that I bumped it a lot and right now I can think only of two-three tracks brings it down. ;)

    14 nov. 2008, 21h36m
  • Comrade_J

"This is where the fun stops", Starlight, Serve Justice, Ride On, Raining, HELPLESS, Pay Attention.. those are top quality tracks, I just got alot of respect for these german dudes.. they took all these guys made solid beats and all the rhyming is seamless like they're a group

    18 nov. 2008, 5h55m
  • TheAbbott

Ok, dude, the chart is based on personal preferences, may be that's just not exactly my shit.I have nothing against Snowgoons, the quality is obvious. ;)
