IIRC there was 1 El-P solo song and 2 Killer Mike songs in the set but that was way before RTJ2 so they had to fill more time. I think now they just do RTJ stuff. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/run-the-jewels/2014/mezzanine-san-francisco-ca-1bcc515c.html

Spoiler: It's gonna be great. I saw them once this year already (don't remember if I already said this) and it was fun as hell. Killer Mike and El-P are the coolest dudes. Some pretty hilarious stage banter too

Pretty decent. I really like the 1st half but am undecided about the 2nd half. Your thoughts?

I haven't even listened to it. I should do that asap.

With the first album I feel like they weren't taking themselves super seriously and just had fun with it (which was a good thing). With this one some of the lines come off as forced like they're trying to recreate the magic of the first album. Still one of my favorite albums of the year but yeah, the first one is probably a step above.

I think the new RTJ album is really really good. You?

I gave it a listen on bandcamp after your suggestion and yeah, I dug it. Could definitely see myself listening to that a lot at night.

QOTSA were about as awesome as you'd expect. Definitely recommend going to that show if you can. As for good 2014 albums, I dunno, I've kinda been slacking too. I've been meaning to give the new Afghan Whigs album a spin because I like them & I've heard it's really good but I haven't gotten around to it. They seem like a band you'd like

Yeah same. If you're into Chance and RTJ you may enjoy Mr Muthafuckin exquire's Kismet and Killer Mike's RAP Music .

Yeah I agree with you completely. I found myself eagerly awaiting Cohle's next pessimistic rambling and I loved his short monologue about his daughter slipping painlessly away and thus avoiding being damaged by growing up. I also loved the opening sequence and theme song -one of the best I've seen/ heard in a while. Dope taste in Hip-hop btw.

Thanks man. What did you think of it?

So, how do you think we should go ahead with this forum? I've set up a forum on zetaboards before and did a fine job with it, but if you or someone from the metal union knows of something better we can do that instead

I still keep in touch with people from the wrestling union I ran...some of the members of the union are annoying but I can ask the better people if they'd want to join a new forum. We can always invite non-GS people too if anyone has friends who would be interested in just talking about random stuff. I think the main problem we'd run into is finding enough people who would be interested to keep the forum active.

Do you think it's too late for us two to set up a forum of our own and then recruit people from GS to join it?

  • JML897

Yeah, I've only made like 10-20 posts within the past month and half of them have just been complaining about the change. It's not the same. It seems like most of the other good posters like GreySeal etc are posting less and less too. I don't know what they were thinking, even those free message board websites like proboards and zetaboards have way more appealing layouts than the abomination GS came up with.

Do you still go on GS at all? It's so disappointing, the change basically killed all the activity on the forums. :/

I didn't see what Earl said but I did see someone retweet him where he said "well there goes the last of my black fans", now I understand what he was talking about lol. And yeah - I thought Watch the Throne was good but besides that Jay hasn't really done much worth talking about since American Gangster which was 2007

The production on MCHG was fine but nothing mindblowing, the main problem I had was with Jay himself. Lyrics don't matter all that much to me but everything about his actual rapping just seemed lazy. It's like he was mailing it in.

I think the whole thing is really good & consistent. Banana Clipper, No Come Down, & A Christmas Fucking Miracle are probably my faves. I should burn the album to a CD so I can play it obnoxiously loud in my car because it would be great for that. Did you listen to the new Jay-Z yet? I was underwhelmed and bored by it
