I only say: listening to every song once because of what your library stats say: % 15 or more plays: 79.4% % zero plays: 0%. What would usually make you NOT listen to a song at all? It being a silly suggestion or just not having the time, as you said above? I don't know what you would or wouldn't consider a "serious recommendation", but it is very time-consuming going through recommendations. Sorry for posting twice,.

Hi there. Rock and electronica are, too, my favorite genres. I wouldn't say I listen to a "wide variety of music" because I'd rather listen to what I enjoy. You're right about people saying they listen to a wide variety, when actually, all they listen to are sub-genres of one or two particular genres. I think it's a self-confidence issue. I'm glad to see that you liked Saint Etienne's new album. It's very appealing for this time of year, especially when staying up all night. Also, what do you believe ties together your rock and electronica crossover, musically, that is? I'm also curious about: epic excel spreadsheet analysing my listening habits, as I find anything technology-related interesting, especially within the realm of computers. I also congratulate you for listening to at least every song once. I must admit, on my Spotify account, I have dozens of recommendations that I haven't gotten to!

Nothing concrete regarding gigs lined up, but looking into a few. Me and Whitey were looking into going to this - (Friday only) but he can't make it now. Think there still announcing bands for it and I'm not sure how up to date that site is. Downloads excellent this year, one of the best lineups I've seen them pull off. Really looking forward to it. Soni are announcing bands on Monday, which is gonna be interesting. Definately dude, was really nice catching up with you both last time! We'll have to keep an eye out on anything that takes our fancy, but you know me I'm up for most things. That's right, TWO SHOUTS!

Great news! Well done dude. Reading's a vey wealthy area, I imagine it's putting serious strain on your wallet! All go in your life though, it doesn't seem five minutes that you were planning on moving to Coventry and worrying about transporting your mahoosive CD collection. I'm pretty good thanks! Got settled into a newish role at work and have been covering my manager who's having a baby. It's a bit more responsibility, but I'm enjoying it so far. She's only coming back part time as well, so hopefully if I do well there might be an opportunity for me to take some of this extra work on permanently. Social life is same as always really, gigs and football! Saw Mastodon in Manchester a few weeks back which was cool.

that was exactly why, put a lot of work into those, But ever since the phd started the rage caused by teaching and marking and analysis has caused my tastes to shift to calmer, more spaced out music. but yes, I wanted to keep the old one as a 'undergrad tastes' account to see how they compared. anyhoo, how's life with you good sir?

Well, I wanted a reply soonish, and your track record isn't the best ;-) It doesn't matter now to be honest, I've decided to not pursue them any further as they just aint my thing (tastes are changing an all that).

Thanks for the comment - that proper sucks! I was standing a little way back, I guess. To the left of the sound desk probably counts as a bit back. Around me there were just people vibing on Slipknot. A little circle pit to my left, a little bit of banter, otherwise they were every bit as respectful as we were. I've been to gigs and experienced the cock-gobbler types that it seems you ended up near - relocating the second you identify their nature seems to be the best plan. Good to know that I'm not the only one with measurable concerns about the future of Sonisphere. It certainly looks like they're aspiring to be the biggest metal event/tour in the world, which I'm not sure is a good thing. I trust you enjoyed the weekend aside from the isolated Slipknot incident?

À propos de moi

Hi there!

Scrobbling since: 16 Dec 2006
(this is why applications such as 'Tracks per day' will be messed up for my profile)

I'm Shaun; I live near Newbury, England. Music is a very substantial part of my life, I seem to plan my life around what I can listen to and when; not to mention the epic excel spreadsheet analysing my listening habits... but no-one else sees that because then I'd have no friends. Like most people, I'd like to say that I have an open mind and that I listen to a fairly wide variety of music. Having said that, most people who claim that are full of shit.

I predominantly listen to about half a dozen metal genres, and simular within rock, with a few dablings into electronica and dance. Always looking for more music - recommend away because I will listen to all serious recommendations, and more importantly I will give them a decent chance (see 'Library' below). The drawback of this is that it's rather time consuming, and the list is already very long!

And despite the scornful undertone of some of that description, I am actually a friendly person, I hope...! So leave me a shout (no blind friend requests, please); we'll chat!

Library (updated somedays)

Total Songs: 6588
% 15 or more plays: 77.5%
% zero plays: 0%
(no I couldn't care less if you've got 20,000 songs because you haven't listened to most of them even once. My minimum threshold for giving songs a decent chance is 15 plays).

...and then I just stopped keeping track without reason. Kind of wish I hadn't as it gives an interesting [personal] insight to what I was listening to at the time, but once you stop the apathy sets in and you never start again. That, and it's of very little interest to anyone else, and quite rightly.

One last one...
