Awesome. Ha that's cool. I'm a fan of the 'chill-out, do nothing' breaks. I don't think my personality could handle a Spring Porno Break. Unless, as you say, Alien made an appearance. Holy shit greatest character ever. ANYWAY. Man I feel for you. Sounds like my experience at my previous Uni back in the day. Back then I'd just go to Uni, take classes, come straight home. With this Uni it's like, we finish up for the day and go get beers. Or go see a film. Or whatever. Sorry to brag and stuff. I'll never mention it again. Oooh horror. Probably the film genre I'm least familiar with (because I get scared shitless very easily). If you have any horror recs, throw them my way. Well, in class we watch one feature a week, and we tend to watch a bunch of shorts. Plus we watch a lot of clips from films, which is good and bad I guess. We're watching Citizen Kane tomorrow. I've been hanging out for this. If you haven't seen it you should check it out.
Sweet, congrats on the job! Sounds ideal to me, better than an unpaid (yet relevant)internship that's fo sho. I'm actually new to St. Vincent. Haven't listened to any of her albums besides this year's. I really like it though, so I'm going to go back over her discography. Her hair tells me that she'd put on a good show though. Haha omg, Spring Break. Did it bear any similarity to Spring Breakers? I would hope so. Ofc the only info about American Spring break that we get over here is that it's a massive piss up and could make for a great porno. Yeah, a few weeks into my course now and it is amazing. Who would have thought we'd be watching films 50% of the time!? The other people in my course are excellent humans as well. Looking forward to discussing film and stuff with you sometime. We should have a thing where once per week we take it in turns to pick a film that we both watch. Then talk about it. OR we could just be like "hey go watch that film". "ok." some food for thought
Man I watched Her yesterday, it was so good. It looked absolutely amazing and damn was it emotional. I honestly haven't seen anything like it. I've actually got Computer Chess on my HD, ready to go. I had a quick skip through the video and just wondering - is it meant to be blurry? Just making sure I didn't download a bad rip or something. Anyway thanks for the recs, Goodfellas is high on my priority list given its renoun. And I've seen another film by the dude who made In the Mood for Love, called 2046 (and it is awesome).
Yeah I think I need to see OGF again, for one. I actually want to see it again, like I could watch it tomorrow - which is quite rare. Usually I like to wait a couple of months before rewatching something. Yeah, I'm about OCD with the rating and cataloging stuff so I have EVERYTHING. Well, I thought of a couple of things to rec you: Aguirre the Wrath of God is one. It is bizarre and scary but visually is one of the most impressive films I've ever seen. Also, it pays to read up on the making of this film after watching it. Also Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai is one I watched recently. Very unique film, with an awesome soundtrack (courtesy of RZA) and some of the most unexpected (but brilliant) humor ever.
Ok, make sure you watch the three cornetto movies in the order they were released, as there are references to the previous films from those that follow (at least, there were a few in The World's End). Yeah, I think I'm the same with OGF. I am just in love with Nicholas RW's style (based on this and Drive). I didn't realize he's been around for so long. No doubt I WILL enjoy Llewyn then. I'm glad to discover you and I have similar tastes in films too. Also does your letterboxd include all films you've seen? Just in case I wanna rec you something, it would be handy to be able to see if you've seen it, PLUS OTHER DETAILS
I prefer anecdotal blurbs as you put it, to full on reviews. At least, on letterboxd I do. A lot of the high-up reviews are just boring, but there are a few goods ones. Her is what I am most excited for, so you don't even need to tell me!!!!! I'm starting to catch up on 2013 now, seen a few good ones like The World's End and Only God Forgives (THAT ONE WAS BEAUTIFUL). It has been a good year for film though, you're right about that.
Sweet, let me know what you think of BEYONCAEEEY. You even do reviews on letterboxd I see! Awesome! I was thinking of doing some too but I'm too lazy. Maybe one day soon. 2013....I am unfortunately behind on 2013 viewing. After seeing this list I realized I'd barely scraped the surface. That, and the big hitters for 2013 (Her, Wolf of Wall Street, 12 Years a Slave, Inside Llewyn Davis) aren't even out in Aus yet! End of this month, I'll see them all.
yeah you must really love the little biebster (KIDDING). speaking of mega pop stars, did you listen to beyonce's new album? i've never been a fan of her, but this changed my mind... ALSO YOU USE LETTERBOXD!??!? Add me http://letterboxd.com/simo000/
Anyway yeah, I'll be checking out Monogatari S2 sometime soon for sure. I don't know why I didn't watch it when it was airing, though I guess I prefer to watch arcs from those shows all at once, and the wait can kill me sometimes.
Oh yeah I agree with you that it's a massive improvement over his older shit. And I listened to All That Matters again and yeah the beat's not as bad as I thought initially, but it's not my kind of thing. So from this I think we can conclude that you are not insane for listening to his new album. Just a little daring (ok very daring).
idk man, that song is just bland poop to me. his voice is so annoying that it nullifies the potential of a song from the beginning anyway. though that said i checked out the song recovery as well, and thought that was actually decent - his voice is less whiny on that one. but still, both those tracks ride completely on his voice, as the accompanying beats are so simplistic.
sorry man, if i don't have a ptp one. for asian movies i use http://www.asiatorrents.me/ and some european movies http://eutorrents.ph/ these might be useful for some of those foreign criterion's you plan on watching. i can give you an invite to asiatorrents and i think eutorrents is has open registration right now.
