Aye yo man, you ready yet? It's been a month, just wonderin. No pressure tho.

  • TokyoMC

Haha sure mane! I know campus lyfe is very demanding. Take your time, breh. It's always cool when someone is able to look back like that and be straightly real. Takes some balls, haha. We all do that though at one point of our lives so you're not alone in that.. I'm going to pm you the whole comment about multis.

  • TokyoMC

Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't know that at all. This was a very old account that I just used now to strictly send that message to you. I have forgotten any settings that I might have set in its creation. Sorry! I keep seeing your "last seen" getting updated then no notifications on new inbox or whatsoever lol. So that is why.

  • SimonePerrota

Am I that constant? I've been stuck to my laptop the last few days knee deep in work so that should explain it... you might want to change your settings TokyoMC because I can't message you, nor can I leave a shout (obviously). A bit odd that you wouldn't send a friend request beforehand...

  • TokyoMC

If you dont want to reply at all it's fine. If nothing else, the most that I want to know about is your comment regarding the constant "focus" on multis.

Yo mane, what up w/ the constant logins? You have me hanging there lol.

  • MusiQ3985

Lyrically, ItB is fine, but it's production spins like a zombified version of "All the Lovers" infected by the faux-spirited jump of so-called "inspiration pop" prominent now. Think "Roar" by Katy Perry. There are definite hightlights on KMO, including the title cut, "I Was Gonna Cancel" (w/ a brilliant video most people didn't get), "If Only" and "Sleeping With the Enemy" come right to mind. I think that she isn't, like you said, Madonna lost but KMO didn't need to happen.

I agree with everything. At this point I'd prefer less songs about being broken hearted as well... Some of her best written have nothing to do with that subject. Don't worry about specific albums I appreciate the recommendations and I'll get back to you when I get through them.

    septembre 2014
  • WickedProphet

Thanks for the recommendations and I agree about Mariah. She got rid of Jermaine so hopefully things can go up from here. I wish she'd drop the 'Urban' sound really... She needs an update.

didnt forget. been busy af, but im skimming thru my sounds now for some good stuff. ill pm u some links. but im not necessarily liberal when it comes to music lmao. i prefer ruff 90's east coast dusty as fuck rap always it is what it is. i just know exactly what im getting when i see a '96 or '98 but there ARE some extremely dope new guys here and there ill show u dem. and thanks!! something about hearing the original was anti-climactic lmao, but then i jumped on the ice cube track and got all nostalgic, ended up grabbing lethal injection :3

You know, a Mariah fan snapped at me in the proceeding shout that many of the album's songs were not about any trepidation in Mariah and Nick's marriage and that we(I?) should stop believeing "BS divorce rumors." He or she must be eating crow now. The lyrics were too vivid and personal to be any marriage but hers'. I must agree w/ you about Nick. He has so media savvy whatsoever and is a liability to a "institution" like Mariah. It sucks b/c I really liked them together. Hopefully, they'll stick it out and try to rebuild their marriage.

Hi! What have your favourite records of this year been?

    septembre 2014
  • WickedProphet

Could you give me recommendations on House, New Wave, Industrial & maybe Ska artists?

    septembre 2014
  • MusiQ3985

Ok, you might want to check out somme post-freestyle freestyle courtesy of Soul II Soul & Caron Wheeler. Janet's "Control" is an obvious, but lovely choice. LL Cool J's debut "Radio" is nice too. Oh and "The Album" by Mantronix. He worked on Kylie's "Body Language" ("Promises," "Obsession").

  • MusiQ3985

I actually did the liner notes for their debut album that was reissued in 2012. I interviewed one of the members of Full Force for it. I recommend checking out some stuff ("Loose Ends," "So Where Are You," "Zagora," "The Real Chuckeboo," "Look How Long") by Loose Ends (a British funk group), Lisa Lisa's solo debut "LL 77" (a little long, but really good overall) & I need to look through my record collection to see what else I could rec for you. But I will get back to you with more.

Yeah man, you should do that. Tell me when and if you do. Trylemma is crazy with keeping up with all the new releases. I check his rym page from time to time. I haven't listened to much hip hop from this year though. I guess it's just not as important to me anymore, perhaps somewhat having to do with not using Y!A anymore... haha. For a long while, I guess out of habit, I'd type in answers.yahoo.com so I could get to my email. Every couple weeks, I'll answer a few questions on there though. I was feeling nostalgic about it a few weeks too.

I've been on huge Janelle Monae kick lately. What you been listening to? Anyway, I was thinking about how I would rank all the suites in her discog so far. I think I would rank them II > IV > V > I > III. It seems to me the first halves of her albums are always a bit better than the second halves. I was curious on your take though.

  • DickBigems

So you live in Ireland, which is an island, right? From my American impressions, what the people do mostly there for fun is get wasted. Though I'm probably getting this confused with Scotland. What is there to do in Ireland?

    août 2014
  • DickBigems

Damn, that sucks. So you were like a busboy? You should've tried to get promoted to waiting tables or cashiering. And I just looked up contact dermatitis. That looks terrible! Hopefully you didn't get it on your junk like some of other people I saw in the pictures did. lol. Tell me something good about your summer though. This is all rather saddening information.

    août 2014
  • DickBigems

Glad you finally got around to listening to Stevie! Initially getting into Songs in the Key of Life can be a little difficult for some, just because it has such a broad scope, but I think you particularly can appreciate that quality in a double album. But Secret Life of Plants isn't bad. It's kind of like his self-indulgent release, yaknow. Like Prince had kind of self-indulgent albums. So it's not for everyone, but there's some worthwhile material there... And lol. What did your part time job have you doing?

I'm doing pretty good I suppose. Its been a pretty uneventful summer for me though, unfortunately. Before I know it school will starting up again. Which is fine, but I wish I wouldn't taken a little more advantage of this time off. How about you man? Yeah, it's been a while since I last talked you. I noticed you were coming on here less too.

Saw your comment on "Disco Down," makes me sad that a lot of people kind of dismiss the emotion and sheer musicality of "Light Years" overall due to a few camp overtones.

Okay, so as it turns out, "Love Never Felt So Good" wasn't really a song of the summer. lol

Hmm. I listened to "Chicago" as well, which I thought was pretty bad, "Loving You" was okay. To me, in a way, there is something to be said for making Michael's music sound more modern. Michael, the quintessential pop artist that he was, was always changing his sound to match the times, so it's not totally inappropriate really that they'd try to do that here (though yes, it'd probably be better to hear a song in a familiar Michael Jackson form than some new one). You could definitely say that picking Timbo to do some work on this material sounded good on paper. I totally agree with what you said though about Reid and all that. Thankfully, "Love Never Felt So Good" seems like it'll be the most popular song from the album, so that might be a good thing for Michael's musical legacy. I could see that song building up in popularity, especially with all the Pharrell old school R&B type songs that have been hits recently. R&B has been making a bit of a comeback on the charts. Hell, I've...

    mai 2014
  • DickBigems

Are you gonna check out that new Michael Jackson album? Usually I wouldn't bother with a posthumous record like that, but that "Love Never Felt So Good" song actually sounds pretty good. Also, Pitchfork is streaming the new Roots album, which sounds cool, though I'm not totally impressed. I figure you have some interest in that one as well.

Simultaneous masters? I don't know what your major entails but I'm sure it's interesting; the only subject that's ever managed to irritate me to aversion is economics, which could be and should've been interesting if it hadn't been appropriated by dogmatic idiots. I'm probably gonna go for a math major, love humanities but they're pleasure learning to me and I can't justify paying as much as I am for something that I feel like isn't self-expanding (I enjoy math just as much). I might have a friend in the next grand slam, so I might be just as excited as you are even though I'm generally out of the loop with sports.

Hey, man, it's been forever how's it going? We haven't talked in forever - I was writing an essay on lyricism in Rap, trying to enlighten the masses (in my class anyway) and I was beginning by writing about the artistic value and unmatched importance of "styles" in rap lyrics and I was reminded of you. What's up?

Yeah I agree none of the songs on Confessions would make my top 10 Madonna songs, or even 20 I think.

    avril 2014
  • WickedProphet

Interesting. Hmm for me it's probably Ray of Light > Bedtime Stories > Like a Prayer > True Blue > Confessions > Music (Underrated imo, 'I Deserve It' is one of her best songs) > Erotica (I agree about a few tracks dragging, I need some more listens though) > Madonna (Better than 'Like a Virgin', which is kinda overrated) > Hard Candy > Like a Virgin > MDNA > American Life. I haven't listened to I'm Breathless in a while gonna need a relisten. Why do you put Confessions so low? A bit overrated yeah, but it's top 5 at least imo.
