The artist your actually hearing was my buddy Corby Yates. He passed away on September 24th 2012 at 31 years of Age. I know most of these comments are negative about the Angel Cover he did. Corby was a huge Jimi fan, In fact , he won the national Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition when he was a Junior in High School. Corby started playing guitar at 6 and I had the honor of seeing him perform live 35 times. Everyone whos a fan of Hendrix and would like to see what Corby could do live should go to YouTube and type in : Amazing Guitarist Corby Yates. What your about to see and hear will really blow your mind. Corby was one of the greatest blues rock guitarists to ever live. In fact, I know that Corby was disappointed with the comments on this board and he felt really bad when he read them. Please give him a chance to show you what he could do. Go to YouTube, Type In : Amazing Guitarist Corby Yates

Great charts - and so true about Jeff Beck's 'All Shook Up' bulldozing Presley's into a dusty clump - "It explodes out of the gates and makes Presley's original sound like skiffle."

Thanks for the shout-back, and i sure know what you mean about slowing down, because my mind is struggling to get this post written before it runs out of words. Rory, sure sounds like you really went through it during your stint. Welcome Home my Brother. Those sure were some tumultuous times, and being in the military multiplied the contradictions. It was almost 45 years ago that i made my exit, but seems like Yesterday. After all, it was one of the happiest days of my life. Oh Yeah

I just read your comment where you mention that you first heard Ticket to Ride in 1965 before deploying to Vietnam. Very intriguing, such a great memory you have, greetings.

i just read your shout to Eric Burdon & The Animals' Monterey, where you mentioned vacationing in southeast Asia in the late '60s. i was in the USArmy, stationed in Thailand 1968-'69, spending many a weekend in Pattaya Beach. lovely place, that planted many wonderful memories during that crazy era in American history. Did you happen upon it during your vacation?

À propos de moi

Served in the Marine Corps from 1957 - 1970 with overseas duty in Vietnam (1961,1965-67,1969), Japan (1967) and Okinawa various times in between 1958 - 1969. Had a brief radio career from 1973 - 1977 at several stations in southern California ( KMET, KLAC, KNAC being a few). Nothing is constant in the radio business. The greatest joy in my life, aside from music, is my wife of 42 years; without whom I would have returned to dust in 1971.
