À propos de moi

Rooted Skies started as an experiment in the Seattle area in 2011. Producer and composer Mike L met with Nakai via Craigslist having reggae music in common and wanting to try to create something new, original and uniquely dynamic.

Pooling from a vast collection of influences such as bands and artist like Peter Tosh, Eek-A-Mouse, The Beetles, Bob and Damien Marley, Sizzla, Capleton, Gentleman, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Beastie Boys, The Expendables, Sublime and Bassnectar to name a VERY few, Mike and Nakai had a solid foundation to build their experimental project.

The reggae scene is rather minuscule in Seattle as the current atmosphere is dominated by indie pop, folk and metal bands. It came to no surprise that finding like minded individuals to join the project would be a difficult task. As luck and determination would have it the project grew after the music was created first then demoed to potential band mates. It's attraction and innovation was immediately recognized and soon Rooted Skies was a fully functional band with Bill Ulsund on keys and vocals, Jake Tracy on Sax and vocals, Mike Y on drums and Ammaron holding down the bass.

It goes without question that Rooted Skies in not your average reggae band. We have made a conscious decision to innovate and create passionate and dynamic new music that we would like to hear ourselves with the hope that others will enjoy it as well. Incorporating current and prototype technology with time tested traditional instruments is part of what sets Rooted Skies apart from most bands. Pioneering automated VST instruments to a full band in-ear monitoring system while focusing on creating an entertaining and honest performance makes this band stand out against the rest.
