Sun 16 Sep – Choose Your Weapon
I have been a fan of The Cult since the 80s, but somehow never managed to see 'em live, so i can't tell you how fkn excited i was to be there last nite and finally get to hear brilliant live versions of all my fave trax. I never knew Ian was such a comic turn with the stage banter, he still has that sexy charm n charisma and it was a thrill to watch Billy Duffy, surely one of the the most underrated axemen in rock history?
The set kicked off with Lil Devil and the whole house rocked hard :)
What more can i say? You KNOW i'm gonna say the gig was brilliant, coz it WAS, and i was so pleased for the guys that they had a great reception from the crowd. It was cool to hear earlier stuff like Spiritwalker and Nirvana :) But this crowd wanted to hear all the hits, and they gave us that (and more!). Rain, Firewoman, Wildflower, She Sells Sanctuary (truly, fkn amazing and still sounds fresh, can never tire of it) They encored with Love Removal Machine. I liked the new trax too and must go get Choice Of Weapon.
By the time i left the venue my legs were aching but i didn't mind being tired and emotional after such a brilliant rockin' set from one of my fave bands ever.
Welcome back, The Cult, please don't leave it too long before we see you again.
